That said...there's some nice stuff, especially in the shoe section. Frye Harness boots for $119.90, anyone?
Also...a really cute pair of pink Via Spiga peep toes is on sale for $109.90.
Hanky Panky thongs are 3 for $33...I may have to cave for this because I actually really need underwear (after throwing out unsuitables...I may have only five pairs left worth keeping)
Are you seeing their sale stuff online? I haven't gotten a catalog yet, but am thinking about going into a store to see if they have some of them out to look at. They always have the greatest stuff in this sale.
I got the catalog and I have a personal shopper there so I already know what is on sale and there is some seriously good stuff.
Honestly, I never really liked Frye's but I really think that I like that pair and I may have to scoop them up. For that price I really can't go wrong. I am also eyeing those broze pointy toe BCBGirls boots in the catalog too. I'm definitely snagging those beauties.

Query: Lots of boho clothes and highly embellished stuff. Do you all feel comfortable wearing something that everyone will know you got on the sale, such as an embroidered jacket or sequin sweater?
I got my catalog and I bookmarked a ton of things I wanted! I really want those BCBG heels that are bronze and pointy and those free people tops I am in love with, the only thing is, I'm on a shopping ban!! I amy have to break it, I really want a couple things!

I would only buy said items in question if I knew it would work in a bunch of outfits (I would say at least 4 or 5). As long as I could work it into a bunch of distinctive ways, I wouldn't be too bothered by people knowing where I got my clothes from (as long as they didn't buy them too...). What I have a problem with is wearing the exact same shirt/shoes/pants as the rest of my co-workers and friends, but not shopping at the Gap has seemed to solve that problem really well.
I do have a problem with some of the price points for these trendy items, but I'm a bargain shopper by nature. I have a hard time believing someone will pay $430 for a rayon/silk blend coat just because it's got a lot of sequins and embroidery...but to each her own and I guess there are plenty of people in Los Angeles who would be happy to pay that much.
Finally got the catalog. Query: Lots of boho clothes and highly embellished stuff. Do you all feel comfortable wearing something that everyone will know you got on the sale, such as an embroidered jacket or sequin sweater?
Who cares if somebody knows you got something on sale! That would be so vain! Most things eventually go on clearance. Scenario: Say you paid $100 for this item, end of season your still using it, but it's now clearance for $25, and other people who couldn't have afforded it otherwise now have it. Does that make it unworthy to have anymore?

Pretty much, almost nobody will recognize any specific clothing items except for ones they themselves own. I mean, who's going to remember where they saw the brown and green skirt with silver sequins, as compared to the black and teal one with gold sequins?
My bigger concern would be how long such items would remain useful and wearable - because more people will recognize the general style as belonging to this summer, and you have to ask if you will still wear something in 9 months, or 18?

I see what you are saying. You are kind of catching the end of the trend when you buy stuff like this on sale, but I see it this way: if you had bought it earlier in the season, you would still be wearing it right now, right? Only people who are very close to you will realize you didn't have the item all summer and those people shouldn't care even if you were wearing a trend from 7 years ago.
I went into the stock rooms at Nordies this weekend in BP, Savvy, TBD, Individualist and The Rail and there is a ton of amazing stuff that the catalog doesn't feature. Definitely make sure that you all get there early to get the good stuff and give yourselves time to look!!
Oh and to answer your question Maven: I prefer to buy trendy pieces on sale because if I only wear them for one season I don't care as much. Just an FYI about The Anniversary Sale, the items are on sale are the fall merchandise. Once the sale is over they take all of that merchandise off of the floor until late September then they put it back out on the floor at regular price so people won't really know if you paid full price or you got it at the sale anyway. HTH!

R, they're already doing pre-sale. I pre-bought the fryes and other stuff this weekend. If I recall correctly, the only dept that requires an appointment is BP. Any others you can just stop by and tell them what you want. You can also have them show you the book for shoes, which has more than the catalog. In Savvy/TBD/Individualist they've got either rooms or rolling racks set up with all the presale stuff, so you just ask an SA and they'll show you. HTH!
