My husband has this one and really likes it.  And it's compatible with Morpheus where he gets free music

Check out Dell. They have one called Digital Jukebox and it can hold up to 15,000 songs for $189.00. My bf got one and he really likes it. It was rated in Consumer Reports and it was giving better reviews than the ipod.

I think they range in price 189.00 to 149.00

Check out Creative. My husband has a jukebox and I used to have one before I got my mini.  I was actually pretty happy with it, but I just wanted a pink mini iPod.

They have a longer battery life and are usually less expensive than the iPods.

Try Archos and JetAudio.  IMHO, these are the best ipod killers.  Another that I like (but have never used) is the Olympus M-Robe.

you might want to check out iriver. i got my bf one for ~$100. it doesn't hold AS much as an ipod, but there were others by iriver that were comparable to ipods. the one i got him was small, inobtrusive and sturdy. i've never had firsthand experience w/ it, but he loves it.

I've got an iriver  and I love it. This model:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00024VTKE/qid=1120823925/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_ur_1/002-9419457-2969642?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

It's great for working out. I have the 1GB one, and while it does not hold as much as an ipod, I am comfortable with the amount of songs it holds. A big plus for me is the radio, which is great if you're at the gym that has a TV, or if you are like me and just happen to like the radio There is also a recording function, which I didn't use yet. The iriver works on one  A4 battery. It has flash memory, like the ipod shuffle... so it can be dropped and nothing happens to it It's not as pretty as an ipod (which was a huge concern to me...) but other than that, it's a great little gadget.
