Dress for a wedding
Permalink Closed

I have lots of time, but the dress I *knew* I was going to buy and wear I now realize just isn't going to cut it.

Wedding is in June in Michigan, the ceremony will be outside, and the reception will be in a historic building that doesn't have a/c. I run warm anyways, so I need something that won't show a little sweat at the under arm.

Also, Looking for straps wide enough to cover a bra (I can't find a strapless that does the job). Nothing too low in back. And, I'm chesty, so a V neck looks nice, but can't be too low.

I'm thinking knee length, in black, blues or purples (but not lavender, that's her wedding color).

Would you keep me in mind as you are out shopping? I am thinking around $200.

TIA!

I'll look around but wanted to pass along a good strapless bra option.  I'm a 32DD and have a hard time finding decent bras let alone a strapless one.  I bought the Fantasie Smoothing Strapless from Nordstrom last summer and it's working great so far.  It doesn't really give a lot of cleavage, but for tops or dresses with thin straps it's been a godsend.  Figleaves has it for $69.

Ann Taylor has some nice ones, but I can't seem to get them to post here.  Sorry for the link.

I saw this one recently - evan picone $88 -- reminds me of the Lapore dress Vanessa wore to a wedding last year in a way:

I love that purple Calvin Klien one. Do you think it is too bright for a wedding?

I am loving the pattern on the Picone one too. I love patterns, but usually go for solids for weddings.

It's a June wedding. It's a celebration. I think it's OK to wear a bright color. You could tone it down with simple accessories (maybe some great earrings or a couple of bangles) and a darker clutch.

I tried on the Calvin Klein version of this dress last year and it fit really nice. The neckline needed a lower cut bra, but the straps were covered.

I was in love with the second dress until I read reviews on it - apparently the ruffly bits do not cover the sides of the dress and make everyone look hippy and weird. :(

jmango, that dress is beautiful! Thanks for keeping me in mind. I haven't bought a dress yet, but I am certainly keeping my eyes peeled and trying to decide soon.
