Favorite ribbed undershirt?
Permalink Closed

I'm looking to reinvest in basic peices, and I want to get a bunch of those ribbed undershirts (wife beaters). I don't want to spend too much, but I am willing to spend alittle more to get some tanks that will fit well and last a while. I'm thinking about checking out American Eagle and J Crew, and I wanted to know what your favorite store for basic like this is?

I personally love my Fruit of the Loom and Hanes men undershirts.  They're cheap and thin and extra long.  Love them.

J. Crew for colored ones since the color selection and wear factor is great...but if you're looking for just basic white, both Fruit of the Loom and Hanes make great ones. I'm especially partial to the boys' Hanes in a size L.

I've tried the Hanes, and i'm not a huge fan. They don't really fit me well, and I don't like the feel of the fabric. I'll definetly check out J Crew.. I just don't want to spend too much money on something that might be overpriced because it's from J Crew, you know?

I just got one that I like from Old Navy.  Only $8.50.  I got it tight to wear under things.

I get mine from Marshall's, they are by Polo in a 3 pack! I didn't have good luck with Hanes either, but these seem to work, they even have a polo guy down in the left hand corner and are cheap!

Thanks so much - I highjacked a polo one from a guy & I LOVE it - I have the Hanes ones & they are "ok" but I really like the Polo ones as well - I didn't want to spend lots either.

I also really like my Old Navy ones - they are thicker & come in lots of colors, they are usually $8.50 but go on sale 2 for $12 or $14 pretty often. I bought several white ones & am embellishing them with embroidery - so fun!

Old Navy for the price!  Yesterday they were 2/$10 and lots of colors.  They hold up well and keep their shape.

old navy came out with some new ones that are longer and a tad thinner than the standard ones. i'm a fan of hanes too, for being cheap and functional. though the polo ones that the other girls mentioned are great. i like them more than the hanes and the cotton quality is much better. however, there's no marshall's near me so i have to pay full price.

I like Old Navy and Wet Seal.  I have beaters in practically every color of the rainbow.

I don't know if you live near a Target, but they have some in the women's/junior's dept. Ribbed, long, and very soft. The only thing is that they have a little owl embroidered on the bottom hem in a contrasting stitching. Not very noticeable. I think they're $6.99 right now.

Fruit of the Loom - not so good.. kinda thin and skimpy

Hanes - I like. seem to fit really good. for layering only.

JCrew - LOVE! great under cardis or other things where you are able to see the tank top underneath. I wouldnt spend too much investing in a ton of these if you are only wearing them underneath and completely hidden, because they are not as cheap as the others.

i have white ones from Hanes, black ones from American Apparel and all my colors (burgandy, plum, blue, light blue, etc.) are from Ruehl.  The Ruehl ones are SO soft and long and completely addictive...

Love the ones they have at The Limited.  Have four, need to go back for more.
