I am Guilty also. When I first starting posting to the site I was in college and had a lot of free time. Like everyone else, life has gotten in the way (full time job, grad school, new house etc...). Like the others have said this is still my favorite site. I think traffic has also been down because so many people have blogs. I think the button is a great idea!
OK ladies, I'm no graphic designer but I made a few buttons.
I figure we should have a few so people can pick the size/style that fits their website the best. But guys, please don't link to these images yet, right now they're on my flickr...I'm just posting here so everyone can what I have so far! D, can you save & host the images, then PM me with the image location/URL? Then I'll post the code for people to start using.
These are just the few I thought up, if anyone else has any other requests/suggestions/etc let me know! I can definitely make a few more!
(it's hard to tell since this post came up with the dark pink bg, but that last pink button looks good on white or light colored backgrounds because of the light shading at the top)
ETA: Doh! I forgot to make some that say "Chat with the smart and stylish" instead of just "join the smart and stylish." It's getting late and I don't have time to make more buttons right now, but I'll make some tomorrow and post them up. But I'd love to hear what you ladies think (and particularly if there is anything you'd want changed) before I make the next batch
ETA #2: Ohhh you know what I just thought of? Maybe I could make a plain button (something easy like the pink button) and it would be a template that says "I'm ____ on Stylethread" and the fill-in-the-blank would be your screenname. Then when your blog buddies come over they know when they're talking to you. If it was a plain button like that it would seriously take me about 10 seconds to customize, so I wouldn't mind doing it for anyone who wants it. D if you don't want to host all those separate images, people could just host their own customized buttons wherever they host their blog images.

Kelly you are so talented I pretty much want to marry you right now.
The user name idea is great. I also like when a blog has an icon saying it's part of a network of blogs. For some reason I feel it gives the blogger credibility.
Foodbuzz is one that comes to mind like in this blog
http://jennshaggy.blogspot.com/
So I was thinking of something along those lines that indicates it's a part of the 'Stylethread blog community' or however it makes sense to express it. Then I suppose you have to put up a page with a list of blogs.

Kelly! Those are outstanding! I'm partial to #2. Perhaps I'll have some time tonight - my life is pure craziness at the moment - drove an hour to drop my husband off at the airport for a 3 week trip to Asia at 7:30 am (just got back), have tons of work to do to prepare for a 1:00 meeting, have to close on the house we're buying at 4PM by myself :(, have to fit in a trip to the bank to get a cashiers check for 50 grand, meetings all day tomorrow, am going out of town Saturday morning, and back on Sunday to purchase an entire kitchen and almost a full bathroom... Please bear with me as I try to fit this in -- thanks :) Pray for me to remain sane while you're at it...

"Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess." ~ Edna Woolman Chase
Hi ladies! I'm also guilty of not posting lately. I've missed it here, but my job has been crazy and we're selling our house/buying another house and so life in general has just been super hectic lately.
I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I think there are a number of factors that have contributed to the decline lately. The economy obviously impacts how much people are shopping and that drives people to avoid temptation, like D said. But I also wonder if it's the nature of the demographics that contribute to it. What I mean is, I started posting on this forum when I was about 23/24 and I'd post a TON during the day when I was at work. I'm now 29, my career has picked up, my responsibilities have increased and in general I have a lot less time to post. Also, over the last few years, I've figured out my style a lot better and have fewer questions about fashion/style than I did a few years ago. I've noticed that a lot of the "old-timers" here that are about my age just don't post much at all any more and I wonder if it's just because many of us have gotten a little older and life stuff just gets in the way and priorities change.
Anyway, that's just my hunch as to what's going on. That said, I still love this forum and wish I had more time to spend on it. Phooey. Growing up kinda sucks sometimes. :/
I LOVE the buttons Kelly made! I'll definitely post one on my blog as soon as they're ready. I'm guilty for sure of not posting nearly as much anymore - I visit a few forums, but this one has always remained near and dear to my heart - it's so special here and I made some real life friends here as well. I love that there is no cattiness here - I think it sets ST apart from the others. I've been focusing most of my time lately on my blog, and some major life changes, including looking for a new job because I just lost mine
NCShopper, I totally agree with you in terms of having less time. I was in college before, so I could log on whenever. Now I'm several years into my career and have a ton of responsibilities that cut into my free time :(

I agree with you girls on this. Also my last few jobs have blocked ST completely.
GREAT idea w the buttons. I don't blog anymore though :(
Personally, I visit at least several times a week but not as often as I used to because my job isn't really good for web surfing mid-day.
Also, like the others have mentioned, I am much less inclined to shop. Right now it is more of a necessity than anything. Despite that, I recall we used to discuss more political/local/philosophical issues in the past. I wonder if there's just much less activity due to the recession? It seems like the forum is held up by a consistent group of 10 or so people.
In any case, the solution is not to simply complain or go elsewhere but to try to be more creative and keep things going, which I do try to do, and will continue to do moreso.
I made some more with the different phrases on them. Thoughts/suggestions/requests? I want to make sure people have one they'd like to put on their blog! :) (p.s. sorry for the delay!)

any possibility to see this one with a sans serif font? something similar to the logo font?
-- Edited by D on Thursday 4th of March 2010 04:02:40 PM
Sure! I'll make one up tonight or tomorrow. I was doing serif fonts just because I was afraid that if I did a sans-serif, that I wouldn't be able to match the font exactly and it would look off...but my BF is a graphic designer so I'll get him to help me pick a font that would look good with it!
