The big Macy's in NY?

Do any of you NY girls shop there?  Is it really nice and do they carry nicer things than other Macy's?  My bf went to it and can not stop talking about how big and amazing it was, though I'm not sure if its just because he's a boy

I'm a former NY girl but whatever.

The Macy's in Herald Square was the stuff of my childhood dreams...9 floors and they're massive floors. But IMO the best thing is the shoe section. The selection in that department is most of the 5th floor and a madhouse most days (I think...it's been a long time) but there is great stuff to be had.

Hmm it might just be because he's a boy. I would never call Macy's amazing.
I agree that the shoe section is great, mainly because it is huge and they have fabulous sales. But the store itself doesn't look very nice or fancy and the racks are all close together and it's often messy looking. I haven't been to too many other Macy's locations so I'm not sure if they carry better brands but they don't have really high end designer stuff.

i wouldn't call it amazing either.  everytime i go there, i find it too busy and crowded and claustrophobic.

the only reason to go the macy's in herald square is for the shoes. they have a really great selection and amazing sales. other than that, it's not that great. the 2nd floor is alright, but they carry pretty standard brands (bcbg, french connection, ruth, liquid, kenneth cole). the only good thing is the sales.

Well I don't know what your Macy's is like but the 2 in New Orleans suck.  I think the most designer it gets is J Lo and Guess.  It is really that bad here.  I know the one in Houston is much better than mine because I checked it out when I went - 7s, COH, BCBG, etc.

So my Macy's isn't the only one that's annoying with the overly crowded racks, and at that they are too close together.  So most of the time I'm like f*** it, I'm outta here!  I am not going to break a nail trying to pull a top off a rack!  Plus I think mine has too much of the cheap brands, we don't even have JLO or Guess for juniors!  Calvin Klein, DKNY, and Tommy Hilfiger (the cheap lines) is it for clothing.  The best brands in handbags is Fossil and Tangelino.  Shoes doesn't get any fancier than Anne Klein.

I guess they assume anybody with more money to spend will just head south for Seattle.

i personally love macy's 34th street. i know i can find everything i need there the cheapest and with the most selection (usually... depending on the item). the shoe floor is the best. i have purchased alot of great shoes there for under $20. going to macy's during sales is sometimes a mystery. you never know how much something is going to ring up for.

i bought at $350+ H by tommy hilfiger suit for less than $85 for a jacket and skirt. i often get alot of clothes for work here from calvin klein, dkny, michael kors (the cheap line), h, and inc. the discounts are ridiculous at times.

sometimes it is insane but with a store that large.. what do you expect. i never go on the weekends. i always try to go during work or right after work... but i would say compared to other macy's it's pretty amazing.
