makeup for older women?

My mom and I are heading to the mall tomorrow for a makeup overhaul.  She uses mostly Estee Lauder right now, but wants to try something different.  Which counter should I take her to?  I want to make an appt. today so we won't have to wait around.

BTW, I called Bobbi Brown to book a consult there, and they require a three-purchase minimum for a consult.  Is that normal for them?

I think Trish McEvoy would be good for her, especially if she's interested in a more natural look. I've never tried Trish myself but I really want to since so many girls rave about her stuff. I personally don't like Bobbi Brown because she's never had good foundation colors for my skintone, but that's a me thing.

My mom used Christian Dior foundation as well as Estee Lauder makeup and she looks pretty good, especially for a 63 year old. (well her skin does...the $2.79 at home haircolor not so much)

I think chanel, bobbi brown, and prescriptives are all good. Chanel's skin care especially.

In my experience most makeup counters require/expect a makeup purchase if you schedule one.  I know Lancome is $35.

I love Trish McEvoy--but I am 24 lol.  I guess it depends on how much coverage you want.  I found that Trish is more natural and never caked on me the way others did but if you want more coverage you'd have to try it out to see how you like it.  Trish never ever made me break out.

Caution with Bobbi Brown:  my friend was have a lot of acne and went to a dermatologist and they told her NOT to use Bobbie Brown foundation/concealer.

With Laura Mercier, I like the coverage and the color on me a lot but I have noticed more frequent break-outs since I've been using it.  I LOVE the under-eye cocealer though.

When I bought Trish and Laura Mercier products, there was no minimum to buy.  I even had an appointment for Trish (met her too!!) and they did not require a purchase.  I did walk out spending $100 though.  Laura Mercier--same thing.  I walked into Nordstrom and my mom and I were just checking the stuff out.  The girl working there sat us down and did cleansing, moisturizer, foundation, powder, concealer, and bronzer on both of us.  We bought all of it hehe.

I have also used Chanel which was also good but for the price I could have bought another foundation of the same quality and less expensive.

No! We do not have a minimum product purchase! Occasionally, some artists will say that like during prom season, because the girls will not buy products if it's "not required". Although, it is nice if the person at least buys some products (assuming they like what the artist did). I am sorry that's what they said but some counters don't follow the rules. Also, if the counter is large I'm not surprised they would say something like that. They don't want to waste their time, but it's their job! I know you don't want to wait around but I would approach the counter when it isn't too busy and just say she wants to try like skincare/foundation and then kinda ease in while the artist is working that she would like to try maybe some new shadows, blush, lipstick! I do love our products for maturing skin. Our EXTRA skincare line is AMAZING! She needs to try our tinted balm, it will make her face look so fresh and rejuvenated!
