1st: i wore my new favorite shoes, black satin wedge espadrilles (from searle if anyone knows which ones i mean) and it POURED. the satin dried but the rope part is still damp, from a few days ago and they STINK! I'm going home (from NY to MD) this weekend and had to pack them. I threw in a sachet, but does anyone have a quick fix for this for next time(besides avioding a rain storm). I couldn't leave them in NYC and will just risk everything else stinking....it's worth it for these shoes..

2nd: i have been looking @ these for a while, they look cute, and comfy and casual, but still on point. Thoughts?

Is the smell mildew? I have seen this happen with tight wrapped rope that gets wet. I'm not sure what to do about it now.. But Next time right when you get home, I would try to dry the rope with a hair dryer.. It will definately smell the longer is stays soaked.
