I can vouch.. Hondas are great cars.. and you cant beat the gas mileage.

Acuras are great too. (Thats what I have) but may be out of his price range, unless its a couple years old.

it! In my state, it cost about $25 to fill up the entire tank and I can go for at least 2/3 weeks on one tank. Hondas supposedly last "forever" and they are usually dependable too. I would definitely reccommend one!

Honda or Toyota. I feel like a parent saying this. They are just really reliable and get good mileage. They supposedly last for 20 years or so. He could buy used and get a nice 2000 Honda for about $10,000 probably, and save the rest for something else. Maybe a nice vacation? I get about 30 mpg on my 98 honda civic and have had zero problems with it.

Go for a Honda. I almost wish I had. One reason I did not because my car is way cool looking with it's electric lime color (it's a Saturn Ion 3 quad coupe), and every other car on the road is a Honda, a little boring but a better investment.

I am currently driving a 1986 Honda Accord (yes, 19 years old). My husband has a 1995 Accord (young at only 10 years old!). We bought both used, and they are still going strong. We probably will retire the 1986 in a few more years (and replace it with another Accord), but the 1995 should last us a while longer. I highly recommend them.

I own a Mercedes and thought I'd be saving money on gas, since I was switching over from a SUV to a car, but didn't even think about the fact that luxury cars can only use premium gas! So basically my gas costs are about the same even though I'm driving a much smaller car! Just something to think about since he's looking at a BMW.

My mom has a bmw and it is not great on gas. I think he is looking at them because they have some pickup. He has always had smart old pepole cars, so I think he just wants a car that he can kick ass in.

maybe the nissan z? my best friend has one and loves it and i don't think the gas mileage is bad at all.

We recently bought two VW Passats and love them. They get about 26-30 miles per gallon and have got a lot of get up and go. We had a BMW before these cars and it got decent gas milage, but not as good as our Passats. The 2002 actually got rated editors choice on consumer reports (or something to that effect) for used vehicles.

If your BF is looking at Accords, those are defintely great cars to get and super-reliable...my coworker has always driven Accords and they've been incredibly good to him.

Toyotas are great cars as well, if ridiculously practical. My dad has a 1996 Toyota Camry. It won't win any style awards, but it's still going super-strong at 140k miles with virtually no problems. He's planning on hanging on to it until it hits 200k and then getting a new car.
