I am so sorry to hear this. What a sad story. You seem like you are handling it pretty well. It is great to hear that he lived a long life thanks to you and your family. You are in my prayers!
catherine i'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss. just try to remember all the good times with your cat. my cat died what seems like a long time ago but i still get sad when i think about her. i guess just try and keep positive and keep the memories of happy, healthy times in close in mind. maybe pull out a favorite picture with a toy they liked to pay with.
i hate to dwell on the past and i'm sorry to resurface this, but whether they are family friends or not, i think you should report them. losing that much weight in that short of time is really drastic. can you imagine a human losing 50% of their body in a week?! even when my cat had cancer, she went from 9 to 6 (she died at a little over 5.5) but that was over a period of six months. i think they must be reported but maybe at a later time when the wounds aren't so fresh.
anyway, i just want you to have my support! big big hug!
LSU - ((((HUGS)))) So sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how hard it is losing a pet..I went through this last year w/my dog I had my entire life. Just remember that you give your kitty a great life and he had a great family
Sorry for your loss. I'd be devastating if anything happened to my precious kitty. That pet boarding place is terrible! Seems like all they care about is money, since they have more animals than they can handle. I sure hope you didn't have to pay for the time your cat was in there. When my family goes on vacation we leave the pets at home where they are most comfortable and have a family friend come and feed them and make sure they are allright.
I am so sorry about your kitty. I agree with the other girls even if he was older there is no excuse for him losing that much weight in a short amount of time. I think you should report them, but it is your call.

OMG! That's horrible! Poor little kitty! You should definitely pursue some action against the vet, though. Old or not, if the cat was healthy when he was dropped off and sickly after picking him up, you deserve restitution!!!!! Regular folks like you and me would have been thrown in jail or stuck w/ a healthy fine by PETA for such treatment of an animal!!! There's no excuse for what happened to kitty, and I think I would have blown a fuse!!!!!!
