I guess I am choosing a depressing thing to share but....I did an exam recently for a designation at work and I just know I failed. I am so sad about it. I was really nervous and choked. I knew the stuff but my mind was blank. It was like the worst nightmare ever. I spent a few thousand dollars on this thing too. And all for nothing. I can't stop crying and I feel like a failure. I won't lose my job or anything but I feel like I let myself and everyone else down. My SO keeps telling me it will be alright but I dont feel like it will be right now. I just feel sick. I dont know why I am telling this. I hope I haven't made anyone feel bad.

Don't feel guilty!  It's totally your preogative to vent here.  Like you said, you won't lose your job and no one died or anything.  It's a bummer to fail at things that are important to you and still worse to feel like you are disappointing people BUT this too shall pass.  Just have a night (or day) of self pity---cry, eat ice cream, take a long bath.  You can always take it again, right?  Some people are just not good test takers, regardless of how intelligent they are (and I'm sure you are a very smart girl).  Try not to stress about it too much--life's too short.

It sounded like you were just nervous. You knew the material. You did not waste your money because you have the knowledge, you just need to re-take the test. I am sure you will do great! Don't be so hard on yourself, you are a motivated and talented person.

oh sage i'm so sorry!! you're only human, please don't be too hard on yourself.  it happens to the best of us and it's just a sucky part of life sometimes but in no way is it a reflection of you or what you're capable of.  one of my best friends in the entire world had to take the bar exam 4 times before she passed and the other three times it was just so hard to watch her beat herself up but the day she passed we were so happy we were literally crying with joy.  anyway, now is the time for FAITH, sage.  you'll make it, don't doubt yourself.  remember this--you are fabulous and don't ever let some bullsh*t test tell you different.  and someday, today will be nothing but a bad memory.  rock on sage!! you can do it!!

I just read your post Sage and I know how you must be feeling.  I went through similar feelings the past 2 years while I was doing job interviews at school.  As hard as it was I just had to keep telling myself that things would get better and I would find the place I fit in best.  The same goes with you.  It just wasn't your day.  You aren't dumb or anything.  Your day will come though soon and either you will pass this test next time or you will shine somewhere else. Just stay positive.

Thank you, lsubatgirl!! I am trying hard to stay positive. I have so many great people and things in my life. I guess this is just a small dip in the road. Have you found the job you want?? I think I missed your post, but I noticed you are looking to furnish an apartment, so have you found the position you were seeking??

Yes I did Sage.  It took a while and lots of crying at home but I found the job I wanted with the company I wanted just in a different city.  I think it was worth the rejection letters from the other places to get this one!  I'll always listen if you need me
