but lately on the forum I've been noticing more catty comments than there used to be. I could be wrong becasue it's hard to gauge someone's tone just from writing, but if I'm right, then that kinda sucks. I come here to hear about all the cool things you guys do, look at all the cool clothes you have/lust after, and to support and share my troubles with you. I'd just hate to keep seeing those negative comments.

So I guess I'd just ask you to think twice about what you're writing. I'm not trying to be a pain or the forum police, I just really value this forum and I'd hate to see it end up like Lucky!!

Aside from that, you guys rock

I haven't noticed this. However, I don't post as much as I used to.

I saw a little of it a week or so ago, but it seems like any nastiness was squashed right away by other members.  I haven't seen any of it since, thank goodness.

I haven't noticed any cattiness.  Maybe you could give an example of what you are talking about.

I agree with this comment.   It hasn't been anything like it was at Lucky, but I definitely noticed some abrasive comments.  But like AJ said, it was squashed by other members who aren't about to put up with that again.

Hmm... I haven't noticed any nastiness at all actually. Quite the opposite. But maybe I missed something?

i noticed.  i noticed when someone called a bag a fellow st'er posted as "uuuuggggleee" and when that same someone said the girls here liked to "gloat."  and i also noticed someone else act very hostile toward differing viewpoints when discussing lindsey lohan.  it was weird, i'd never observed such animosity here before and to be honest, it made me kind of wary of new members, and i had to remind myself that i used to be new too and to not to let a couple bad apples ruin the bunch since the other new members all seem really great.  but anyway, yeah...i noticed.

I too am not around as much as I used to be, but have noticed it more recently.  I have been a bit hesitant to post sometimes recently because of it.

It isn't anything near what the lucky forum became, thank goodness.  But I am glad that someone posted about it, perhaps everyone will try to be more pleasant.

Those are the exact same instances that I was thinking of.  Especially when the first someone mentioned that she "was a bitch and if people didn't like it then they would have to deal with it".  I don't think so.  This place is wonderful because we respect each other and our opinions.  If you don't like something it is better to just say, "I don't care for it" or I'm not wild about it" or "not my taste".  If you do not have anything nice or constructive to say don't say anything at all.  I think that everyone would agree with me when I say "bitches" need not apply here.

Well, I remember a certain someone being real nasty about somebody posting about an ebay auction.  I think it's best when you read something you don't like, DONT post a comment! You will see that the fireball doesn't grow if you don't add to it!

like if you don't like a bag.  you don't have to call it uuuuugleeeeeee.  you can not post about it, or just say not for me.  it's not really what you say, it's how you say it.

That is certainly not the atmosphere we're gonig for here!  Kris and I do our best to keep an eye on things, but I'll admit I don't read as many threads and posts as I'd like (she's very good about it, but she's on vacation).  Can you guys please bring any obnoxious or offensive posts to our/my attention so that we can decide if they're a problem?  We'd really appreciate it - after all, we are above all a community.

Our forum does have guidelines, and people who can't respect those will be warned.

Thanks, girls, for noticing this!  You can email us at stylethread@stylethread.com (both of us check that mailbox, so if one or the other is on vacation somebody will see it) with specific complaints if you feel that they are out of bounds.  Your identity will be kept confidential.

And for those of you being snooty, please check yourselves and think how you'd feel if somebody replied to your post harshly.

*this post makes me squirm*

While I have noticed this somewhat, I think the best thing to do would be just to contact the moderators privately and have them look at the poster's threads.  I don't mean to defend anyone saying mean things, but often new posters don't realize how supportive we are, and are used to posting on boards like Lucky and the Lux forums, where basically anything goes.  I feel bad when *anyone* is ganged up on.  If it happens repeatedly and the poster doesn't change their ways, posters should be definitely be banned.  But i think everyone does a good job getting accustomed to this forum and no one stays mean for long.  Many posters have let a snide comment slip out on occasion- my feelings were hurt somewhat a few months ago as well by an established member who is usually nice.  However, I don't think anyone should be scared to post!!

I have noticed this too. Nothing nasty, just snippy. I have always loved it here b/c everyone has been so supportive, no matter how needy we are (I am talking about myself here!) I agree that we should contact the admin. Thanks again for all you do Taru and Kris!

I haven't posted much because I''ve been so busy lately, but I've noticed also the catty comments from a few weeks back. I attribute it to the fact that there are a lot of new members coming in who don't "get" the atmosphere here.

I hope the regulars I "know" continue posting. Although I haven't posted much lately, I still enjoy reading everyone's comments and seeing everyone's style on threadstyle.

Lynnie, I agree. This post makes me feel a little uncomfortable too. I know there have been times when I have said (typed) something and rethought it after the fact, thinking "I hope that didn't come out like ... " So I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but still preserve the sense of community. Everyone here has always been incredibly nice, supportive, and helpful to me, and I want other "newbies" to have the same experience I had. Especially those of us (like me) who had never participated in any kind of forum before. At the same time, I agree that people who seem to want to be mean, and to persist in being mean, should be contacted by our wonderful moderators.

I appreciate all your different views and opinions. I hope I didn't offend anyone by it, I was just noticing things and was starting to get uncomfortable. I didn't want to point fingers or name names, because I don't think that would necessarily be productive. I understand that we have gotten a ton of new members, so I guess I was just hoping that by opening this up for discusison that the newer members would begin to understand what kind of community we have/are trying to build here.

When I posted this I knew I was opening myself up for criticism, and that's fine. I tend to lurk a lot and it's only in the past few weeks that I've really started to open up and post more. I'm beginning to feel comfortable, and I would hate to not feel comfortable enough to post. Anyways, that's about it. Sorry to have caused any unnecessary controversy.

I haven't really noticed anything catty, but I have a pretty thick skin.  I think there is a fine line we all have to be aware of.  We should be nice and respectful to one another.  At the same time, if someone asks for opinions on an item, we should be able to say if we don't like it (in a respectful manner).

Kris and Taru do a great job of keeping things friendly and I think most people have good intentions when they post.
