Baby name help
Permalink Closed

My husband and I can't really decide on a baby name we love.

We decided to give the baby her first name from us, her middle name named after her great grandmother on his side - and her hebrew name after her great grandmother on my side (The one that just passed away)

They are both "s" names...

So we are thinking for her English name - Talia (pronounced Talyah) Simone (named after her ggrandma Sydell)

And her Hebrew Name Talia Sephora (pronounce Sepora) (My grandmothers hebrew first name was Sephora)

I am open to other suggestions for "s" names - really for her english name...what else goes with Talia?

OR - do you like the name as is???

I think Talia Simone is beautiful - they go together nicely.  But just for the sake of having choices (and, er, because I just unearthed my baby naming book ) here are a few more 'S' names:

Selina

Shavonne/Siobhan

Sofia/Sophia

Shea

Shanae (actually a Hebrew name)

Sherine (also Hebrew)

Sarai (another Hebrew one)

Solange

Sabina

Sade

Talia Simone is beautiful.  Also like Siobhan, as LMonet suggested.  A friend of mine was also named this, and she regrets that her parents opted to name her "Claire".  Also beautiful, but not exotic.

Love Talia Simone!  Question, does she go by the english name?  What is the purpose of the hebrew name?  Sorry if those are stupid questions, but I'm curious

JMR, I love both names!  Both hebrew and english names sound beautiful together.  Talia is one of my favorite names.  Will Sephora be pronounced in Hebrew like tzi-po-rah (meaning little bird)?  That is actually my aunt's name!

FP, that's not a stupid question!  Babies are given hebrew names that they use at important events throughout their lives, from the baby naming ceremony when she is born to her bat mitzvah and even at her wedding.  It's also Jewish tradition to name babies after relatives or others who have passed who had a lot of meaning to you.
