Help with "going-out" tops please!

I'm not super-picky on color; all I can keep thinking of is black, which is fine, but I always gravitate towards black for going-out, so I'd like to break away from that. I want the top to be somewhat casual too, but not so much that it screams "Hanging out" when paired with my skirt. Slightly sexy is always good :) Any general ideas or specific items would be great!

Anyways, the skirt is just an a-line denim mini from AE,
and the shoes are these:



I have a silver bag, but if it's too matchy-matchy with the shoes, feel free to offer ideas on a different color of bag too.

Basically, I have no idea what to put on the upper half of my body, so I'm open to almost anything.  I think the overall look I want is somewhat casual, but still somewhat sexy.

I think you could wear pretty much anything on top since the skirt and shoes are pretty neutral.  Plus I think mixing dressed-down denim with dressed-up silk is SEX-OLA!!!!  Here's a few ideas:


 sexy & comes in a ton of colors


 A little sexy, a little innocent


 feminine yet funky and not extremely girly

Love those flippy-floppy shoes.


I like non-traditional colors with silver (i.e. I avoid baby blue and pink - too cutesy for me.) How about:

Hi Carrie,

I feel like with the metallic/rhinestone shoes, and since they're flat, I wouldn't get too nuts with the top in terms of dressiness and embellishment. A solid color in a sexy cut and soft fabric will do you right.... I am thinking Ella Moss or Sweetees types of stuff.

DC: I was thinking the same thing: since the shoes are "sparkly", then probably shouldn't do a sparkly shirt too.

Thanks guys for the responses! Now I have some ideas on what types of things to look for when I head out this weekend.

Now I just have to decide if I want to spend the gas and drive 40 miles away where there's better stores to shop at than what I have in town. Especially for Forever 21, the king of cheap going-out shirts!
