I know this movie is old news and all, but let me just say that I cried the whole entire movie.  Even in the beginning when it wasn't sad yet, just knowing the ending from my sister and everyone else.  Especially because my bf is so far away right now, and it made me wonder about young love and if it ever really goes away.  It made me question if we can really move on once we've had that kind of love...

Anyway, I love love Ryan Gosling aka Noah.  He is so hot in that movie.  And I think that Rachel McAdams is very under-rated and a very versatile actress.  She was believeable as the bitchy Regina ( in Mean Girls) and believeable as Allie in The Notebook.  I don't look at her and see only one type of character- she makes all of her characters dynamic- even Regina George had a softer side to her.  I think that is rare in Hollywood except for the greats- most people trying to make it are "the mean girl" or "the funny guy" or "the action hero heartthrob".  I just watched Fight for Fame, which had these stereotypes, but I feel like I see a lot of actors/actresses playing the same type of roles.

lynnie - I'm so glad you finally saw the Notebook - it's such a good movie, and I'm a total sap and cried for a lot of it too!  You should read the book too...that made me cry as well and it's a little bit different from the movie.  I totally agree with you about Rachel McAdams - she is a very under-rated actress, but I think it's because she's young and she's just starting to star in movies.  I think w/time she'll start getting bigger parts and more recognition.  You're totally right though - she has a rare talent in being so versatile in the parts she plays and I think she's just great.  I love Ryan Gosling too - so hot and there's something about his voice I just looove!

Yeah they used to date when they filmed Murder by Numbers. I thought that was an odd pairing.  But he's sooo cute!

he definitely is!  he's got this smoldering quality.  i am very much looking forward to watching this.  i asked my BF if he wanted to watch it together and he said no way, only if it were my birthday or valentine's.  but it is probably more enjoyable to see this without him rolling his eyes...

I wouldn't say my bf got teary eyed, but he did really enjoy the movie.  He said it had a great story and one of the better love stories he's ever seen, he really liked it.

How funny.. I just finished the book last night. My sister had given it to me because she'd liked the movie, but then she was actually disappointed with the book when she read it. I have to say, so was I. It was really schmatzy to me. Like Bridges of Madison County (yuck). And then end - the very end.... ew.

All that said, the movie is supposed to be much bettter, so I want to see it. That guy *is* dreamy.

I liked the book and the movie.  I thought the movie followed the book really well except the ending.  I feel bad though because I didn't shed a tear at the movie.  Probably because I had just speed read the book and knew the ending (my friend gave me the book and I never got around to reading it and then the movie came out and she insisted on seeing it and I was trapped!).

I don't remember the book's exact ending, maybe someone can help me here, but in the book Noah doesn't die in the end like he does in the movie.  He lives.  There's actually more books after the Notebook, like the Wedding, that he's a character in.
