My car got broken into... yay.
Permalink Closed

So my car got broken into last night. Yay. And all they took were a couple of pack of gums. Another yay. I don't keep anything valuable in my car so I'm lucky there and I'm lucky that my car didn't get hit and whatnot but being the *%^$ that I am, there were LOTS of other cars on the street... why mine?! I mean, you can't steal my car. It doesn't drive with a normal key. There's NOTHING in my car. Hondas and Acuras get broken/stolen alot here but I drove a 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor. I mean, yeah, sure, its a Benz but THERE WAS NOTHING IN THERE!!! THERE'S NO REASON FOR YOU TO EVEN GO NEAR MY CAR! I may be naive or whatever but it isn't the kind of car you'd want to steal. Let alone all there was in it was some rollerblade, plastic bags, and a box (luckily, I took my just-arrived handbag inside).

I don't know how I'm feeling. I've been feeling numb. I hafta take it into the dealership when it opens tomorrow. My bf was there when I found my driver side's window shattered to pieces. The security patrol was taking a report (he was there first) when we got there. It wasn't even really late at night -- sometime around 10pm-1045pm and around 1025, my bf walked by my car walking our dog.

My bf says it isn't my fault and I know it isn't but what did I do to deserve this? I just don't know. Oh, and when we called the police department, they told us that we can either file a report online or wait for like, 3 hours before a cop arrives. Yay. Thanks for jacking up our tax only to not be there when I need you. And while driving to my bf's house to house my car inside his parent's garage (I don't want my mom to know; yeah, I'm not a great daughter), I drove by THREE POLICE CARS. All not really doing anything.

I hate this city. I'm moving out, damnit. I live in Northern California. Greatness. I don't really have any real, goood friends so I needed to vent. I don't need a response. I just had to type it out. Thanks for reading though...

(((((HUGS)))))

i drive a Mini Cooper and sometimes feel as though cars like ours (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc) are specificaly targeted.  last week someone stuck a huge wad of chewing gum in my lock.  in 90 degree weather...  luckily i am due for service in a couple of weeks and they are going to clean the lock out then AND i never use my lock b/c i have the remote but still!!!!  why my car?  why me?  why not the car next to me?

i truely think it was b/c i had a mini cooper.... and that sucks...

I am sorry. Your bf is right: it's really NOT your fault.
It happens to everyone.
Don't take it personally and try to feel better.

I'm sorry to hear that. They probably saw that it was a Mercedes and just assumed there would be something valuable inside. Who knows why people destroy other people's property. It's totally unfair, but you have to look on the bright side...at least you weren't IN the car when it happened. Nobody got hurt, nothing got stolen. You can get your window replaced and your car will be good as new. I know how scary that can be, though. After your insurance adjuster looks at it, I'd give it a really good cleaning inside. It would freak me out to know that some hoodlum was touching everything in my car!

I'm sorry. That sucks. But look at it this way, all they got was gum. It could have been your house or you that was robbed. At least it's easily fixable, a nuisance at worst. It was probably some stupid kids who assumed expensive car = expensive stuff inside, just waiting to be stolen. Real thieves know to go for the crap cars with no alarm system and good stereos. Do you have an alarm? Did it go off?

Once my car got broken into (no windows broken or anything so it's especially weird) and the thieves took ALL my cds (pissed! although i guess i shouldn't have left them in the car) and a bottle of Tide. Really? A bottle of Tide? Is that necessary? Rule of thumb: don't leave your purse, your keys, your stereo, your cds, or your tide in the car. Damn thieves.

Oh wait - or your gum!

Thanks for the comments, ladies. Blubirde, your comment made me smile. I'm getting my windows replaced today. Hopefully all goes well and I can just forget about Monday night.

I'm never taking my car out at night anymore... unless I have my bf drive me around or I take my Lancer.

Thanks again, everybody.

::karma points for everyone::

I have bad car luck this week also.  Just two days ago on the highway there was this huge piece (almost the whole thing) of tire tread in the road.  It was out of my way until the SUV in front of me wouldn't even drive 1 foot to the right to easily avoid it.  So he had no problem running it over and sent it flying to my car.  So then it smacked the left front side below the headlight and made a huge noise as it went under my car nearly flipping my car over!  Oh, I nearly had a heart attack!  Lucky for me I only had about three more minutes to drive to get home.

Well, there was this huge black tire mark on my car and some little scratches.  No dents though, my fog lamp didn't even break.  I took it out later and it was making an awful noise on the left front tire when I was going 60+.  So I take it to my Saturn dealership and they readjust something, no charge!   I will have to buff out the rest of the black mark I couldn't wash off and the scratches as well.  I am still peeved at the person who blew their freakin' tire and couldn't clean it up!  They could have caused somebody to die!

Cortney1982-- I worry about that sort of thing when I drive on the freeway. I'm glad nothing horrible happen to you. I would have started bawling! I'm such a wuss. Have a flowerpot in hopes the end of the week will bring you (and hopefully me) better luck.

I went into the dealership this morning to pick up the window and when my bf's dad went to put it in, they ordered the wrong window! Apparently, the first half of the year (of the Kompressors) had a different type of window "lock" and mine was the clamp-y type while the one they sent us had holes in 'em so you can put bolts through it. Yeah, so I have to wait yet another day for my car to be windowless. I thought it was going to be finally "over" but it's not. *sigh*

I've had such a crappy week. I really hope things will start to go up.

I see these all the time on the road!   One time when I was driving on the interstate, there was a MATRESS in the middle of my lane.  I have never braked so hard in my life
