use me as an excuse--say you want to spend time w/ your "old friend" and that you'll be checking out at noon so you won't need to have the room on sunday night.  it shouldn't sound bad, just word it right and you'll be fine.

hmm, that's trickier.  i do think it's silly to have a room if you're not going to spend the night but if you're going to be traveling w/ her and hanging out w/ her that day, maybe you could try and talk her out of the room.  otherwise, you might wanna just chip in just to be polite.

btw, i'm going to be staying w/ a friend but i'm for sure coming and will definitely be around to hang out!

hey girls, i'll be in vegas in august too!  i must have missed whatever post has the details... when r ya'll going?  i'll be there aug. 4, 5 & leave on the 6th (my bday).  anyways, i would flat out tell her it's a money issue.  say that u weren't planning on needing a hotel for an extra day & didn't set aside/won't have enough money for it.  ask her if she can get a flight that leaves earlier so she won't have to be alone for 6 hours (cuz hotel or not, who wants to be alone at 1am??).  if she refuses to budge on getting the room, i would only pay for the first two nights & if she says anything about u using it sunday just tell her "i told u i didn't have the money & u got the room anyways, do u want me to leave?"  maybe that's a little harsh, but i'm sure u can word it nicer (is that a word?).

What I would do, if you want to appease her, is compromise by moving to a lower-priced hotel for Sunday "night".  I just went on to Expedia and searched for August 14 and then by price, and there were TONS of hotels that popped up in the under $50 range.  Some at the airport, some on LV Blvd. at the south end.  You could stay anywhere.  Rates for Sunday thru Thursday are drastically lower than the weekends in Vegas.  Find a place that had an airport shuttle, and you'd be set!  I've stayed at a lot of different hotels there, so if you need any advice, let me know!

That works out well, then.  I'd pitch in a little too in that situation.  I haven't stayed at NYNY, but I've gambled/ partied there.  They have a FUN Irish Pub there called Seven Fine Irishmen, or something like that.  We partied there for many hours one night last summer and we had a blast.  They had a fun Irish band there that was very lively and involved w/ the crowd.  Make sure you tell the doorman you're a guest.  You should get in for free (cover on weekends).  I like the casino area there a lot too.

i've stayed at NY, NY... room was average, pool was average (but w/ HOT guys) but it's a decent location & not too expensive.  make sure u get (and USE) the coupon book they give u when u check in.  it has free access to many clubs & other discounts & stuff.  also, if u go to coyote ugly (it's not that great, but if u've never been u may want to check it out) & there's a line, just walk right up to the front.  u might want to mention ur a guest or that u have a coupon or whatever, but i was suprised at how cool they were about walk-ups.  u don't have to "be somebody", not that u would for a place like that.  also, since ur in the area, studio 54 at MGM is awesome!!  so fun, but be sure to get there early as the line gets very long.  never tried the walk-up there cuz i imagine the line is that long for a reason (the reason being that EVERYONE has to wait in it, including girls), but ur best bet is just arrive around 10 or 11... any later and u'll probably fall asleep in line!
