grrr -- nordstrom salesperson screwed up
Permalink Closed

i returned something at nordstrom the other night and the girl asked to see my driver's license before she gave me my refund. for whatever reason, she was kind of snotty about the whole transaction. anyway, later that night when i went to put my id and money into my small clutch for going out, i realized that she had not given me back my license.

i called the store and they said it was indeed there and had been given to customer service. so i had them connect me to customer service (to make sure) and customer service could not find it. they transfer me back to the dept that kept the license in the first place, adn the girl tells me "oh, yeah, it's still here. do you want me to keep it here or take it to customer service?" i told her i don't care where they keep it as long as i know where to pick it up so i don't have to run all over the store tracking it down.

i started thinking about it and i live 40 minutes away from the mall (and i work 45 minutes in the oppposite direction) so it's totally inconvientent for me to have to go back and pick the stupid thing up. so i call and ask if they can send it to me, and the girl tells me that they usually don't do that b/c there's no way to verify my identity. well, duh, if you are sending the license to the address on the license, it's pretty much a sure thing that the owner of the license will get it. i asked her to fedex it, since i kind of need it right away, and she tells me that i would have to wait until monday morning to talk to their shipping dept about that.

now, maybe i'm wrong, but since it was their clerk's mistake, and since it's a driver's license which you technically need with you to be driving and not a credit card which you could theoretically live without for a few days, shouldn't they be a little more accomodating? should i call back and talk to a manager or something? or should i just make go pick it up tonight (which means cancelling our dinner plans or at least showing up very late) and be done with the whole thing?

OMG!  get on the phone right away and ask to speak with their store manager.  that is the worst CS i have ever heard from Nordstroms... whoever the mgr. is, they should grovel at your feet for how that girl treated you!  and they should def. send your ID out ASAP.

Don't forget that you were part of the problem by not making sure you got it back!   I would still be nice about it though, if your nasty they may not ship it to you and make you come and get it just to get back at you.

well, she took my license and set it on the computer keyboard behind the counter.  then she handed my my money and recipt, and they come out from behind the counter to hand you your bag.  the pomp and circumstance of this whole thing combined with her huffy attitude distracted me from the fact that she hadn't handed my license back along with the recipt and money.  (plus i have rarely, if ever, been asked to give my driver's license with a return).

There is no reason she should have been such a butt about the whole thing. I would probably speak to her manager. It was their mistake, so they should send it back to you as fast as they can. That would be good customer service.
