Under Arm Razorburn

Help!  It seems like every time I shave my underarms, I'm getting painful razor burn.  How does everyone shave their undearms (sorry if this is a gross question), especially every day in the summer and avoid razor burn?  How do you get a smooth shave?  Thanks ladies!

I used to get that! And I started using the Dove deoderant, and it really helps! I didn't think it would, because I figured it was just deoderant, how much can it do?! But now when I shave, I don't get razor burn at all. Before, it used to be so painful, I didn't even want to shave! lol (of course, I did anyway). I would recommend Dove, it will help a lot.

The only problem I have with dove, is that it's not very helpful when it comes to actually keeping you dry and smelling fresh. I might try looking for a dove deoderant that's heavy duty and for sensitve skin, if they make one.

Fashionlover- thanks, I actually do use Dove deodorant already.  Not sure if that's help me out at all, but I'm wondering if anyone has any secret shaving tips or something they use afterwards to prevent the burn...do people wax?  I need help!

Have you tried Tend Skin?  It works really well for razor burn.  Also, even though it sucks to grow out the first time - waxing your underarm REALLY is amazing.  You get a super smooth underarm - like a baby's bottom.....

silly question, but how much does it hurt to have your underarm waxed?  i am very tempted to do this, but afraid of it being really painful.  i have dark hair and pale skin and would love to no longer see the roots under my skin (sorry, gross detail).

shopchicago33, i don't get razor burn under my arms anymore, but used to.  ouch!  now i use shaving cream (kiss my face, but any brand would work) and the gillette venus goddess razor.  the antiperspirant/deodorant i use is almay clear gel unscented.

I was wondering the same thing about how much it hurts to have your underarms waxed?  Also, don't you have to let some hair grow back in before your next wax?  That could cause a problem...

Scarlett- i do use shave gel when I shave and I use a Venus razor too - what the heck am I doing wrong   Do you shave every day?

Well, the first time...I had a friend do it for me and I almost died.  The key is to do little patches - not your whole underarm at once (trust me).  Now I do it all the time and honestly it is not bad.  I think bikini waxes hurt more!

I started shaving with the Olay in shower moisturizer instead of shaving cream...I let it sink in for a minute and then shave...I really like it. Closer shave and less burn.

Hi Ladies - I felt compelled to weigh in on this subject - WAX! Wax your underarms - its the BEST. Sure, it hurts a little, but nothing compared to a bikini wax. If you can survive that, you can survive anything! But, if you must shave, use a good razor - like the Mach 3 turbo or something like that. Shave in all directions - up, down, side to side. And then use Tend Skin. That's my best advice. Good luck!

Do you wax at home or have them waxed by a professional?
