I think it would be cute w/ a very simple fitted tee w/ slightly puffed and capped sleeves.  I have a cute one that have a slightly ruffled neckline that's darling.  My preference would be for a white top so you could go bold w/ the accessories.  That may be too boring, but that's probably what I'd do at first until I could play around w/ them.

i like MissMee's idea. wetseal has some cute ones that are pretty cheap. i like these
