Arts and Crafts ideas?
Permalink Closed

I am a camp counselor for 8-10 girls this summer and im  looking for some fun new ideas for art projects we can make at camp. We are somewhat limited w/supplies (like we dont have clay to make pottery or things like that) but we have the basics. Any ideas on what sites i can go to for craft projects for kids in camp? Thanks!

It might be cool for them to make their own big beaded necklaces. You could get the wood beads and paint them whatever color they want.  I'm not sure what site would give you specific directions, but you could pick up a beading magazine and I'm sure that would help you.

Make pet rocks.  Have the kids go out and find a rock of their choice then they paint it and glue stuff to it to make it an animal.  They can give it to a parent as a paperweight or keep it as a pet.

Make butterflies with coffee filters, magic markers, water, and pipe cleaners.

The necklace idea is fun with painting wooden beads.  I'd just string them on a shoelace so it's easy.  To make it more special they can paint a bead for every girl and exchange them.  Also making a journal/scrapbook and write about their days at camp.  That would be a good keepsake.

You can also make those cool coasters with the cork bottom and string seed beads on wire and glue it on.

Good point.  You could also get pretty ribbons and use them to string them.
