that's a great gift! he'll love how it ties in to his recent project.
i got my dad a book about enron and how they got caught ("enron: the smartest guys in the room") and some nice hand cream. the hand cream is a bit of a joke because my mom took him to sephora recently and had him get all these products, and he was kind of mystified about everything, like the facial moisturizer and deep conditioner. also, he'd never realized until then that you don't really need to wash your hair twice every time, despite the directions on the bottle, and for years kept saying he didn't know why his hair was so dry. now at age 57 he's learning!
Scarlett -- Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Who knew they were just trying to get you to use up the product more quickly!?!
I'm getting my dad a book on tape/CD b/c is eyesight isn't too good anymore. I don't know which book yet... probably something related to American history (Revolutionary or Civil War) I'm also getting him some chocolate bars. He loves hershey's chocolate and almonds. He's low-maintenance...

Have you seen the movie yet? I don't know if it's playing where you live because I think it's a smaller film, but it's really good and very informative. Funny too.
I got my dad......a polo shirt! I know, how exciting!

I'm not going to be in town and I just got my family some nice presents from traveling so I just made him a CD. My dad's really into music so I'm exposing him to "indie rock."
i got my dad the Miami Vice DVD. it used to be his favorite show and we would watch together. i told my brother who now wants it too so that's what i'm getting my brother for his BDAY. Also getting Dad rice pudding from a store in NYC that ONLY makes rice pudding. it's his favorite dessert and i took him there when he came to visit and he flipped out! so, he'll get that special delivery www.ricetoriches.com check it out. YUM!!! even if you don't like rice pudding, it's like ice cream there.....

I saw the movie - it was fantastic! I highly recommend it. I'm buying my dad a Conway Twitty cd. No really. He asked me, "What's that thing you got me for my music in the truck?" Me: "The cd player?" (really nice one i might add) Him: "Yeah. What does it play?" Me: "Um, do you mean cds?" Him: "Yeah. Get me one of those." Me: "Just any old one?" Him: "No. I want Conway Twitty." Me: "Alllllriiiight. Whatever you say Dad." This from a guy who digs his rock 'n roll. Beats me. He won't say anything else he wants and he's nortoriously hard to shop for so a Conway Twitty cd it is. Good thing he buys anything he wants anyway.
RED SOX TICKETS!!!! my sister and i are taking him to a game in september. we're all big fans, so i guess it's kind of a present for all of us! i'm so excited that we got tickets- they're pretty hard to come by these days...
oh dear, now that i've read y'all's mine seems so generic, i was just gonna get a gift certificate to the golf store and a cute card. maybe i should pick up some chocolate too? oh well, he's out of the country right now so i have some time to think of something more original...
a pack for his bike. he loves going on long rides and now he will have a place to stash a jacket and a snack / lunch. i'm going to fill the pack with my homemade "power bars" and coconut macaroons.
