Going to be on TV!!! what to wear?
Permalink Closed

July 8th I am being interviewed for a local tv station....they are doing a segment on the bridal jewelry that I do.

Now we all know that I am preggo - and the camera ADDS 10 lbs...so I am freaking about what to wear. I would like to keep the outfit simple - but trendy....BUT keep in mind I want the focus to be on the jewelry I am wearing NOT the outfit per se....

I would be most comfy in a dress....

I can wear NON maternity clothes...as long as there is room for my huge belly (empire waists, etc...)

PLEASE...help me find something - I am desperate!!! I havent been shopping in ages and I don't even know what it out there right now.

I have heard certain colors look better on TV, and I think I heard that patterns tend to be a no-no on TV.  I can't quite remember what the deal was, but have you talked to the people who are interviewing you about recommendations on color or pattern?

Otherwise, I would go with a nice, bright, solid colored dress, maybe with a cardigan over my shoulders just to be demure.

That's sounds like so much fun! What jewelry will you be wearing?  Do you have any pics to post or is it on your website?

Anyway, I think something simple, but summery would work.  Maybe go with a strapless, empire waist top, like this (you can tuck the straps in so it's strapless):

I love this color!

or since it's for weddings, you could wear white (and it looks good if you're tan)

brown is pretty, too.

You could wear simple denim capris with the top or could wear pink with the brown ones (there's my obsession with that color combo again!).

ETA: You could always wear a cropped shrug cardi with this top, too.  Target has a bunch.  They are short sleeved (I have the brown one, which would look good with any of these).  I agree, with Drew, stay away from crazy patterns.

E(again)TA:  Oops, sorry, I missed where you said you would be most comfy in a dress.  Silly me. I guess I'm not much help.

I can wear any jewelry that I want! Most likely I will make something that matches whatever I get to wear - so really accessories are an after thought.

i think drew had a good idea re asking the people what colors work best on tv. my first inclination is to go with black, which is boring but it works, and would be a good backdrop for your jewelry.

i think since the jewelry is the highlight and why you're there.. you should start first with what pieces you want to show on tv.. and then what pieces you want to wear yourself. maybe from there find an outfit.

you always look great! i'm sure you'll find something fantastic and look great! good luck btw!

I saw that Gap one too, but when I checked the size I saw they didn't have JMR's size and since they don't carry maternity in stores, I didn't want to tempt her, but I loved that dress.

Oops sorry.  I am seriously thinking about scooping up that Gap on for myself, but I don't want to jinx anything.

Drew I love this!

I think red and white are supposed to be bad for TV. Red "bleeds" too much and white is very contrasty.

Jen! Congrats on your TV appearance! Since your jewelry is the highlight, I would most definately wear a little black dress and then wear some bold colorful jewelry with it. Black will make you look thin and classy and will compliment your preggo-glowing skin!!

I think a simple brown dress would have the same effect as a black one and would look lovely with your skin tone without being trite. . .

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I love this one! Just remember that TV cameras will wash you out, so I wouldn't wear anything white or grey.
