Celebs that you have met and how were they?

I just got home from Maui where myself along with around 40 other coworkers had won a trip. I have a funny story I wanted to share with you guys. Tuesday my husband and I were coming in from the beach and we saw Owen Wilson walking through the lobby of our hotel, the Fairmont Kea Lani, with a guy and a girl. I like some of his movies, but he is no George Clooney so I wasn't going to go over and chase him down. We walked over to the elevator to go up to our room and they had just beat us to it and push the up button. When the door opened the girl with Owen held out her hand and told us that we would need to wait because they needed to go up first and we would also need to wait a before pushing the button to get the next elevator to insure that the door did not open back up on them. That really irritated us, because our work was paying over $500 a night for us to be there and I don't know who she thought she was to tell us we couldn't use the hotel elevator. Anyway the next day while we were waiting on our car from valet we saw Luke and Owen sitting a few feet behind us. One of the other girl's who was there with our group wanted to go up to them. I was curious to see what they would do so we decided to just walk up to them. She asked if we could take a picture with them. Luke just gave us the rudest look that if looks could kill I wouldn't be typing right now. Owen proceeded to tell us, in his exact words, " Um the thing is, is that, um, with the internet right now, I would rather not take pictures with girls, um, because if my fiance sees them, um, I will be in trouble." I would have thought an actor could have came up with something better than that, but I am here to tell you that all of the roles he plays where he is a goof, he is not "um" acting. He needs to get over himself, what would make him think that we would post pictures of him and try to claim that something was going on, (please refer to previous George Clooney comment). I just wanted to tell you guys my story. I have met alot of celebrities, but none of them have ever came up with such a lame excuse to blow someone off. He may of been an idiot, but atleast I got a funny story from the whole ordeal!!

What losers! They are not cute AT ALL.

I've seen a ton of celebs but only met a couple. I've met members of about every band you can think of. I met Samuel L. Jackson once...he's cool as hell. He's probably one of the coolest people ever. So nice. I met Kanye West briefly once. He wasn't awful, but he does seem to have a pretty huge ego.

i had a beer with James Denton the plumber from D.H. and he was soooo freaking nice and hot.  he was in this bar after a cubs game and literally talked to everyone, and took pictures with everyone.  i don't normally gush, but i was hardcore.  it was so refreshing to see that.

ewww. i USED to like luke and owen wilson too.  i USED to like the movie Bottlerocket.

Yeah, Luke and Owen seriously need to get over themselves.  What a turn-off.

I almost respect celebrities more who are a little bit of assholes. I totally would be if I was one. I've never had any interesting encounters with celebrities, only spoptted them.

that is so disappointing about the wilson brothers!  you'd think they'd be a lot cooler to their fans than that.

i've seen a lot of celebrities around -- once robert redford and i made extended eye contact in a restaurant, and i almost fell out of my chair -- but only spoken to one, an actor named peter hermann, who used to be on a soap opera my mom and i watched together and now he's on law and order svu sometimes and is married to mariska hargitay in real life.  he was also in an episode of sex and the city, the one where charlotte is trying to get over harry and all these women at the synogogue try to fix her up with their sons.  he played the one who was very good looking and smart but she just didn't want to date anyone, and he says "i understand.  do you want to go to my apartment and have sex?"  anyway, he was at a christmas party i was at, and he kept walking around and i recognized him and finally went up to him and said "excuse me, but aren't you an actor?"  and he said "yes, i am" and i asked him "and you played the doctor on guiding light who cloned reva?" (very weird storyline) and he laughed and said "yes, that was me" and we talked about it for a few minutes.  he was really nice and shook my hand, asked what i did for a living, and then he went on his way.  i used to watch that show every day from the time i was 13 until i started working full-time, so it was exciting to meet someone from it.

Seeing as  I live in West Chester, PA (home of Jackass fame), it was only a matter of time before I ran into those guys.  It happened last summer.  I hung out with Johnny Knoxville, Bam, Rake (who is actually very cool) and a bunch of the crew.   Most of them are jackasses (specifically, Johnny and Bam) and completely cracked out.  I wasn't too impressed. But, it was an experience and now I can say that I am only one degree of separation away from Jessica Simpson (hehe).

ok, here's my shameful experience... so i was at a club in LA (ya, i've seen & met lots of celebs, but this is the most interesting experience) w/ my girlfriends & kinda just gazing off into the distance while they went & got drinks.  suddenly i realized i was gazing at Mario Lopez (AC Slater from Saved by the Bell) AND he was gazing back!  (now keep in mind i had NO idea he was with anyone - specifically Ali Landry, this was before their divorce)  When one of my gfs came back i told her & she was like "go over there".  so we both went over & introduced ourselves.  we all (he was w/ a guy friend) talked for a while & then he asked me for my number.  i gave it to him cuz he was so HOT in real life!  then we met up w/ our other friends & went to the car.  i told the other girls what happened & they were disgusted.  i couldn't figure out why til they told me that he was married to Ali Landry!!!  not long after that they got a divorce & i wasn't too suprised.  oh & he never called, what a jerk .... haha, so kidding, i didn't expect a call & was relieved i didn't get one!

I actually kind of agree w/ Maddie.  I don't believe that celebrities have a responsibility to be super friendly to every stranger who walks up to them.  As I see it, their job is to preform, I don't think they should have to be ON 24 hours/day.  I can't help but put myself in their shoes and think about how annoying it must be to have people watching you all the time.  I know I'd crack really quickly.

However, I would be totally annoyed about having to wait for the next elevator.  They aren't entitled to special treatment because they've been in a couple decent movies.

I've mostly met musicians - most recently Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian, but also most any band from Seattle - I've always found them to be reserved yet nice.

how was kasabian?  my friend and i love their music and have their recent cd but hate that you can't download it to your IPod b/c they have that decoding on it that makes the computer spit it back out as soon as you load it!  grrrr!

I used to see Jay and Silent Bob around all the time.  For awhile Jay would give me eyes and make random guy comments when he saw me on the street. I wouldn't even give him an ounce of attention - he's very skeevy.  Bob seemed way more cool; he wasn't always trying to mack on women, just hang out.  I never tried or wanted to have a conversation with either of them so I never approached them.

I saw Ian (can remember his last name, but the blonde guy from Beverly Hills 90210) at a night club in DC probably 96', but never approached him. He was standing on a balcony in the VIP area, and since I wasn't VIP, I couldn't get close enough, although at that age I would have definately approached him just to tell him I watched him in high school.

i've seen a bunch but had few real interactions.  here are the ones i can remember:

reese witherspoon complimenting shoes i was trying on, we both happened to be shoe shopping at the same time in the same place, she was really cool.

ice cube talking to me at my desk (i used to be an asst. at a talent agency), he was really cool too.

sharing a moment w/ tom selleck at a party (i only got to go because i'd helped the agent's first asst. w/ the invite list), and thinking he was really cute.  i remember being disappointed when he didn't ask for my number.

shaq asking me out-- was in the car w/ my friends after our other friend's bday party, my friend saw his cousin's car (she had stalker tendencies and was going through a bball groupie phase at the time), made an illegal u-turn and pulled up next to them, i was in the back seat, driver's side, he was in the front passenger seat of his cousin's car, he made eyes at me, asked for my number, i didn't know whether i should give it or not because i didn't know if my friend liked him, she gave him my number, he called two days later, saturday, and wanted to take me out but i had a paper i had to finish so i said no he was like well i'm going to be out of town for a month but i'll call you when i get back. i was like ok.  i told my friends, they were like you are the biggest nerd ever, i was like oh well, what am i supposed to do w/ him anyway, besides i love C (we were dating at the time but not exclusive yet).  anyway, a month later, he called again, spoke to my roomate, she was like i'll give her the message.  she told me, by then C and I were exclusive so i never called him back.  oh yeah, and his first words to me were how old ar you? soo funny, i'd just turned 21 at the time.

i think that's all i can think of for now...

LOL, that's hilarious!

reese witherspoon seems like a cool person.  i'd be so disappointed if she turned out to be rude.

I've met a lot of band members, too. I'm kind of a junkie when it comes to certain band peeps. But then I'm such an idiot around them. I just grin stupidly and say "hi - y'all rocked tonight." I'm cool like that.

But the most memorable celeb encounter was when I met John Waters (one of my all-time favorite directors) and Selma Blair. Two things about her: not the nicest person you'll ever meet and freakin' skinny! Like get that girl a milkshake, pronto skinny. I remember seeing her and thinking she looked like a sack of skin and bones. Gross. Of course that's probably why she's perpetually pissed off. She's just hungry.

Oh and John Waters? So cool. But I'm a girl and therefore not really his speed.

let me think, i was 22 at the time and I'm 27 now so it was about 5 years ago.  I guess that would be during his Friends days?  Gosh, I still remember the butterflies--and what was weird was there were people who were much more famous at the party but for some reason, to me, he was the most interesting person there. sigh.

I have met a few bands- mostly punk bands like Less than Jake, Bad Religion and Dropkick Murphys- who are some of the greatest, sweetest gentlemen you'd ever meet.

One of my best friends is the pastry chef at a 5-star restaurant in the city. They are always super busy and booked up. She was telling me that one night Dylan McDermott from "The Practice" came in while he was filming a movie in town a few years back. He didn't have a reservation so there was no tables availible. He started absolutely freaking out and pulled the old "Don't you know who I am!!!" bit on the hostess (which is stupid b/c its not like he's super famous). Needless to say he never got a table. Then he did an interview where all he could talk about was how horrible my town and everything in it is. Nice.

I do see your point Maddie about celebs not always needing to be nice, because it would be hard to always have to meet people. However, I think that any fan should be respected unless they are being rude to you or aggressive in some way. At the same time, we are the people that go to their movies and help them afford the lifestyle they are living in. A person could be the greatest entertainer in the world and without ticket sales you are nothing. So in a way they do have that public image to maintain if they want to keep driving around in those fancy cars. He should have said "You bought a ticket to my last movie, well thanks for helping to pay my house note last month, let me get that elevator door for you" HA!!! Like that would happen, but it would be funny!

Let me give some positive energy to this topic and say that my FAVORITE celeb that I have met was Mr. Lenny Kravitz. He was the nicest, coolest guy ever, not to mention totally hot! I was glad that he was just as great in person and made you feel like he was just a regular guy. Did I mention the fact that he was really HOT!!

I think the elevator thing is ridiculous, but I'd be bitchy if someone asked for a picture with me. I mean yeah, they probably bought a ticket to my movie, but I doubt my career will suffer if I don't pose for pictures. It sounds stupid, but I got a whole new appreciation for this when I was in India. Because I was white, everyone there would just stare at me where ever I went and families would come up asking me to pose for pictures with them all the time. It got SO annoying. You're just trying to hang out and you keep having to pose for pictures. And I'm sure it's a million times worse for Britney Spears or whoever. At the same time, I'd totally try to get my picture taken with Britney if saw her.

I met the little girl from Signs and her brother, who was in The Kid. They were with their mom and were super-nice to my little sister.
