Ok, so I go in for my OBGYN appt and afterwards, my mom asks me if I want to go to On the Border, and I say sure since I haven't had lunch and have been bored out of my mine cooped up in the house every damn day.
Anyway, I ordered my food and soda, and every soda I got tasted like tonic water, and I kept telling the girl to take it back and finally I said fuck it, just give me an iced tea.
I got my food and everything was fine....... until I ate the guacamole. That shit tasted like dog shit that has been sitting outside on the sidewalk for a week. I spit it out and then tried washing my mouth out - no help. I started dry heaving and ran to the bathroom, where I violently vomited for about 10-15 minutes. It was so bad I started seeing spots, tears started coming out of my eyes and my nose started bleeding.
When I was done, I asked for the manager and she came to talk to me, didn't give an apology, just told me that a food borne illness would take 24 hrs to affect me ! At that point I was about to ring her neck and told her "Why don't you do me a fuckin favor and try it then?" She said "Oh yeah, I'll eat it right now in front of you." Then she disappeared and came back with the $6.99 dog turd platter charge off my bill.
Just a public service announcement - don't eat at this place, especially in Paramus NJ.
that's outrageous, how dare she act like that to a customer, much less a violently ill mommy-to-be! ask for the number to the corporate office and report her--seriously.
That's kinda funny, because I was just in Mt. Laurel NJ last week for work. And we had such a rude waiter. Me, and my co-workers had just got into town from our 3 hour drive from VA and yeah we were probably lookin a little rough. But, we went to order margaritas and this jerk was like "VIRGIN" and we were like NO and he was like OH, I thought you 2 were 17. I just thought that he was extremely rude and that he should have just asked for our IDs.
That's awful! Hopefully, at the very least they learned a lesson in customer service in their awful treatment of you. Hope your feeling better today and won't have an aversion to guacamole after that experience.
I was at that place once in CO and thought it was blah.
That does suck! But they didn't do enough....comping one dinner is NO big deal, in fact, it's pretty much done any time someone so much as doesn't "like" their entree, if it comes out kinda late, if they are out of one of the dish items, etc. I am actually surprised that you weren't offered a free dinner for next visit. I hope you didn't actually curse at the manager after her stupid observation, because that won't get you any sympathy, but her comment to you about "24 hours to affect you..." was terribly rude and unsympathetic and should have been acknowledged by her superiors at OTB.
I suggest you write a letter to the regional management or corporate about what happened to you at that store. That way, you know that the manager of that store will be looked at for the kitchen's food quality issue, and on record for that attitude, maybe even fired. (I used to waitress and I got a complaint letter sent to my manager once, but it wasn't because of my attitude, it was slow service...not my fault...so I didn't get in trouble, but I was careful to make sure I apologized to unhappy people after that.)
You were obviously at a badly managed store. My local OTB is great, I eat there all the time and have never had any complaint, but you can expect that in Texas, we are very particular about our Tex Mex because there is lots of competition, maybe not so in your area so they don't try as hard at their OTB....?

I cannot believe they treate you like that at all. I defintely agree with lorelei's idea...service this bad, especially when you're so far along, is absolutely unexcusable under any circumstances!
that's awful! are you still feeling sick to your stomach? i agree that you should write a letter to corporate. a restaurant chain can't ignore this kind of thing and i imagine they would look into it immediately.
