Talk me out of $70 12th st dress
Permalink Closed

I'm on a shopping ban for all intents and purposes since I'll be in New York next week. So my presence at Loehmann's last night is something beyond my comprehension.

But I saw this in a gorgeous mauve and I was instantly attracted to it...it seems forgiving enough and it's comfortable enough to wear on a red eye with silver ballet flats. Plus I could wear it through the next day...and it's a cute going-out dress...My only problem is that it's 93% rayon/7% spandex...is that just asking for problems?

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent $69.99

Please talk me out of this!!!!!!

don't be blindsighted by the name! that dress is alright and by that i mean $20 alright, not $70 alright. the overall style doesn't really do anything for me, and it seems like it would look dated really fast. (imo it looks a bit dated now) i honestly think you'll look at that dress and be like WTF was i thinking. sorry if that was harsh, but you should save your money for the stuff you'll find in nyc.

Lilykind, I am fixin' to come and find you so that I can put blinders on you!

You need to stop - for real!  You must like to torture yourself or something, because I don't know why else you would continue going into stores and tempting yourself, when you know very well, MISSY, that you cannot be shopping now!

Now be a good girl, back away from the credit card and re-focus on NY.

Did that do it for ya?

Very pretty, love the colors. Have you tried it on yet? if not, I think you should and take it from there. If you really love the feel and look on you I say you should get it......

Tati, not you too!  Don't be an aider/ebetter!  Lilykind is on a strict shopping ban until she gets to NY.

Save your money for N.Y. I went there last year, saved some money and came back with some nice stuff.....dont walk into any stores! dont even look at thier windows or pick up shopping magazines! good luck......I know its hard!

Well, I hope this helps: those sequins look rather tacky and that color would make anyone look sickly!

I'm not a fan.  I think it looks a little dated - overuse of sequins.

I agree... restrain yourself for NYC.    Isn't is always that you want/need to shop when you aren't supposed to?!!!  Kinda like having a gift certificate and finding NOTHING to buy!

I'm not crazy about the sequins and agree that it will look dated REALLY quickly.

think of all the newer pretty things you can find in NYC!  I know I went last year w/ my sister and we were trying to buy a luggage to fit all the new goodies we got!  Save your moola for those lovely street vendor finds!

I actually kind of like it to. It's vintagey. But not for $70.

I knew you girls would come through for me. I am most defintely not getting the dress...Irene, I think my initial appeal was concentrated in the flapper-ish silhouette, but you girls are right. I can get a host of cooler things in NYC that are more unique.

Drew, I have had a voice in my head that consists of your (much appreciated) scolding (from this and a few past other times).

Always greatly appeciated!
