been on or tried the South Beach Diet???? I was recently reading an article, and a book on the diet. I am willing to try it out, but I am not quite sure. Last summer I did the Atkins diet, losing 10 pounds, gaining 18 back during the course of the year. So I really want to avoid that again. But I want to take care of myself, I weighing now at 165. Thats an all-time high for me, its really been depressing. For example I have to unbotton my pants to sit down in a chair, lose my breath when I climb a set of stairs. Its so hard for me to stay on track with eating and exercising consistently. Advice ladies?

My brother and his gf did/doing it.

My brother didn't like and he stopped and now is doing weight watchers, but his gf is still on it and lost 15 lbs in the first 3 weeks. She has been doing it for about 6 weeks now. I am not sure what her total weight lose amount is up to now, but I can definatley tell that she has lost weight.

She seems to really like it.

One of my colleagues started the diet b/c he thought it would help him lower his cholesterol. he didn't have much weight to lose to start with, but he became leaner on the diet. And he was able to drop his cholesterol a lot, too. He really likes it.
I think the bottom line is: find what works for you. Try the diet, just stick to it only if you see that it's giving you results and it's not too hard for you to follow

My doctor believes in trying Atkins or South Beach for a set period of time (say 3 months) and then switching to a low fat diet like Weight Watchers since it is easier to stick with WW since it is less restricting.  My bf didn't do South Beach per se last year but he did something similar and lost a good 40 pounds and has kept a lot of it off while off of the diet.  He stays below 150 carbs a day and eats what ever he wants as long as its below that amount.  He did that so he could still eat his fruits and veggies and get those nutrients in.  I'm not familar with SB at all but I think its similar because you are allowed more fruits and veggies than atkins.  Like others have said it works best to find a diet you like and can follow and you can always start one and switch to another.

I just restarted WW today so if you have questions on that one let me know.
