Winter coat with Frye harness boots??
Permalink Closed

Hi! I am desperately in need of help. So I finally bought some Frye harness boots in the lovely dark brown. I usually wear all of my boots with skinny jeans and have put together quite a few great outfits with them. BUT, it's getting to be winter in Chicago! I have the most GORGEOUS new car coat from Anthropologie but unfortunately, that would look ridiculous with my Frye's. I am racking my brain and searching the web for suggestions regarding what sort of winter coat I should buy to go with these boots. Any help would be fabulous!!
Thanks!

Can you post a pic? When I googled it looks like Frye Harness boots come in a couple different heights, which ones do you have?

(p.s. welcome to ST!)

I'd also like a picture of the coat, since I'm not as convinced as you are about the ridiculousness of them together.

Hmm, I think I agree that they wouldn't really work together. With those boots I am picturing something shorter and more casual, like this:

Is that too much cowboy in one outfit?

I could see them working together - try skinny jeans and a feminine blouse/tunic, or trouser jeans and a plain top with a ruffly scarf. I think it's interesting to play with "genres."

I think it could work. Maybe you can do a full skirt/dress with tights and wear 'em with the boots and coat. It'll be kind of a feminine but rough look.

Thank you so much for posting those pictures for me, Kelly! I couldn't figure out how. smile

I'm just not sure if I'm "funky" enough to make these two work together. I have some fairly casual clothes that I like to wear with skinny jeans and these boots (I don't really have any fall/winter skirts). I am looking for a coat that I can wear with pretty much anything that I wear with my Frye's. I didn't really see anything at Urban Outfitters but I was thinking of something more casual like what you would find there.
Any ideas?

I like this idea too!

I live in Chicago too and know what you mean about our winters.   Personally, I worry more about what is under the coat because you'll spend a majority of your day inside anyways.  I've worn a dark grey J Crew coat for the last 8 years (and expect to get a few more years out of it too.)  It keeps me warm and since it goes down to my knees, nobody can really see what I'm wearing under it anyway.

I think you can still wear skirts, dresses and skinny jeans with your Fryes and the coat (which is gorgeous btw) should be fine.
