rocker recliner for our nursery. My hubby has convinced me that it would be the most practical chair for us in the nursery. The room is really small and we only have space for one chair and a crib and a couple of other pieces of furniture, so we want something that we can sleep in and rock the baby in. The problem is, the chairs I've seen lately that are rockers AND recliners are horrible looking. I have looked at Pottery Barn (they just have rockers), Crate and Barrel, Storehouse, Ethan Allen, Pier 1, Lane Furniture and even (gulp) La-z-boy (now that Todd Oldham does some of their stuff I thought I'd give them a try) and I can't find anything that doesn't look dated and awful. We like modern clean lines and these look all grandmother-ey. Ick. Anyone have any suggestions??
ETA--this is the least objectionable one I have found. I think if we can get it in a neutral color it might not be that bad. Any opinions (I know this is a boring topic!)?
I think a rocker/recliner would be a great thing to have in a nursery. I had a glider in both of my girls' nurseries, and I loved it. Would have liked a recliner too, though. The one thing I regret about my glider is that I didn't get one with padded arms. They're just wood and I can't find covers anywhere. Definitly not as comfortable as the big fat padded arms on the one you picked out would be.
Another thing, if you get tired of having it in the nursery, it would look good in another room in the house. More so than a glider would.
hey alb! congrats again. i found a few gliders you might like on poshtots.com but for some reason they won't let me copy the pics and post. anyway, check out that site if you haven't already. hth!
I have a glider and matching ottoman for the nursery purchased at Babies R Us. It's cute IMO and it has padded armrests, it is pretty narrow though and barely fit a nursing pillow, but it glides SO nicely, it's very relaxing, I wish it could recline though so I could doze off. I also tested dozens of rockers with my sister in law before her baby came and I noticed that the less attractive the chair, the more comfortable it was. My MIL has a vintage padded rocker that's not bulky, in a pretty but neutral fabric that I really love rocking the baby in, so maybe you should check out some older or used furniture on consignment, because I saw nothing like it in the major furniture stores.

Personally, I would go with a rocker/recliner instead of a glider - gliders just scream BABY! and if you got a rocker/recliner it could easily be moved to other parts of the house later on since it functions as 'real' furniture in it's own right.

Thanks girls. I'm definitely getting a rocker-recliner, vs a glider. Thanks for your tips. Esquiress, thanks for checking and mentioning poshtots! I forgot about that one, going to look there now . . .
