problems wearing cardigans
Permalink Closed

I really like cardigans, but I have never worn them that much because when I get them to fit in the shoulders and waist, they hang under my arms.  I have tried various brands--JCrew, Newport News, JCPenney, Gap, and all the same problem.  I am a 34 B so I just wonder if it is my chest is just too small for cardigans.  If someone can recommend somewhere I can get some that will fit, I would appreciate it.

I sometimes have issues with this as well - I think it usually just has to do with the construction of the cardi in question.  For instance, I stay away from cardis with crewnecks (to much extra fabric at chest) and that are boxy through the waist and narrow at the hem.

I try to go for ones with a deep v-neck and a fitted shape that end at high hip, and I personally have better luck with those that have 3/4 sleeves for some reason.  I also almost never button more than 2 or so buttons right at my natural waist if any.  IMO hips + fully buttoned cardis = a disaster (usually)!

I have a few ATL cardis I love, but they're short on the thinner-knit ones online.  Maybe on clearance in-store though!  They carry pretty much everything in petites as well, which can be helpful if you're trying to find just the right fit in something (says she who likes to take the same cardi in 4 sizes to try on ....).

Sort of like these:

I second the Jackie from J.Crew, IMO it's been the best fitting of all the cardis I own.
