"Suede Paint" by Ralph Lauren???

A friends suggested I try using this paint in the bedroom. Does anybody have any experience using this product?


 


Any tips?  How does it turn out?

We painted the study in our house to look like leather. We had the room painted and used Baer paint as the base coat- according to what I have heard Ralph Lauren paint is suppose to be horrible paint. Then my mom and I bought the Ralph Lauren glaze and painted it that on top of the baer paint. It turned out really cool. It acutally looks like leather.

A few years ago my aunt had her room painted like suede and it was very cool looking. When you look at it looks very soft. I don't think she used the any Ralph Lauren items to do this though.

And my bathroom looks like linen. That was also a Ralph Lauren techinique. I am not sure what all was involved bacause we had that done by someone else. I know they used Bear paint, but I don't know if any Ralph Lauren paint was involved. They also used a special brush by Ralph Lauren.

The suede paint is actually regular (low quality) paint with very fine grit sand in it. My mother is an excellent house painter, and used this in the mossy green color in their entry way. In low lighting it looks fantastic, but in full sunlight, you can see every roller mark and brush stroke.


A co-worker of mine used it, and it looked straight horrendous. I'd consider other options before trying their paint.

my roomie and i used it to paint the back wall of our loft, we love it but then again the loft is always in soft light.


basically, you just paint w/ a roller brush like normal but the second coat you take an angled brush and paint X's, sounds weird but i really do love the soft look.


here's our floorplan, it's the upstairs loft we painted...

I've never used it myself, but it was used on one of the walls in my house in Texas, and a lot of people liked it.  It was an olive green and it really looked like suede.  We received tons of compliments on it.  We thought about changing at first it b/c it was a little dark, but we liked it in the end so we left it the way it was.  I know this probably doesn't help much, but I thought I'd share my 2 cents anyway.
