Lost finale!!

What did you guys think?

The whole pirates stealing Walt and blowing up for the raft through me for a loop. That was pretty good and unexpected. I knew they wouldn't be rescued that early but i wasn't expecting that. I guess I was expecting them all to be kidnapped.

The baby thing was okay---they kind of told us that was going to happen.

The Artz thing was bizarre!!  I heard someone else was going to die but i didn't think it would be him. I guess that is why they introduced him -- to kill him off.

And we still don't know where the hatch leads to? Any ideas?

Did anyone see when they were boarding the plane---it looked like Sawyer and Walt knew each other? Did I miss something there?

You think the Rock Star will start to do drugs again?

I haven't been completely following the whole season - but my boyfriend has been keeping me informed and I watched bits and pieces of it last night - I guess for me I was a little disappointed - I thought maybe we would find out more about this place - or more of what is really going on.  I guess b/c I haven't been that involved in the whole season - I was hoping the finale would be more like the ending of a movie - we would get more clues or answers to this place, etc.

Did any one else pick up on the french woman saying she heard voices that said they wanted the boy?  And then Walt gets taken?  Hmmmm...tie in much?

You know Leah--I did hear her say that. I thought she was talking about the baby but I think you are right.

Plus walt told them not to open the hatch and it appeared to be happening about the same time....the hatch opening and the kidnapping by the weird pirate people.

I'm the only one in my family who watches it and last night I was running back and forth from my room saying things like "Oh no! The French woman took the baby" and "They took Walt!!" My dad just made fun of me.

All the pieces of this unknown puzzle still don't fit, but I am anxiously awaiting next season!!

OMG, this finale was great!  i think they coulda fit it in an hour & not shown as much filler, but other than that it rocked!!  was i the only one that cried when sawyer got shot?  i mean, i know he's a main character & unlikely to be killed off, but he has a bullet wound, they are 15 miles from the island & their raft is destroyed... what are his chances???  and as for danielle saying the voices whispered they wanted her "boy", well claire's baby is a boy & so is walt so i think each had equal chances.  also, both supposedly have special powers (remember claire's psychic?  and who can forget all of walt's craziness?).  the hatch was a total let down... come on, at least talk about the numbers some more!  i liked that they showed everyone's back stories in one show like last ep.  so is the "security system" dead now, or what?  what was w/ that lil black cloud of smoke floating away?  well, anyways, i am gonna die waiting for next season!!

I was so excited for the Lost finale, but I was slightly disappointed...maybe I just built it up too much in my head.  I wished they had given us a few more answers.  I expected the whole baby stealing and I had a feeling they would end up getting the baby back.  The whole pirates thing was a big surprise...I wish I had taped the episode...that whole scene was so dark and there was so much going on...I'd really like to watch it again.  I may be crazy but I though it looked like it was a woman (or a man with long blonde hair) who threw the explosives on the raft.  I feel like there were too many flashbacks...although maybe there was something in one of them I missed.   I wanted more about the numbers and the hatch...ughhhh it's going to be a long summer.

i was actually pretty disappointed with the finale.  i had high hopes when mr. dynamite blew himself up in the first 15 minutes, but it was mostly downhill from there.  i think the next truly exciting moment was when those fisherman impersonators took walt and shot sawyer, an hour and a half later.

let's see...

charlie - i can't believe he took one of the statues with the heroin!  i mean, i knew he would once they stopped there and sayid told him about it, but why, charlie, why?!?  you've been doing so well!

jack - he's an ass.

locke - i still can't figure him out.  do you think he's "bad?"  i'm not sure.

sayid/shannon - yay.  i thought they were sweet last night, and it seems like he'd be really good for her.  he's pretty sexy.  rawr.

sawyer - i don't think he'll die, he's too hot for them to get rid of...plus, he and michael seemed to be bonding a bit and i think that'll continue.

michael/walt - for some reason, the thought that "they" were after walt never crossed my mind, i assumed it was aaron (claire's baby) they were after...as i'm sure was the point.  but then why did they take the french lady's child way back when?  maybe he had/has walt's same powers?

jun/hubby (why can't i remember his name??) - i feel so bad for the husband.  he seems to be a really nice guy who fell in love with the wrong girl (well, not her so much, but a girl with the wrong father).  what's the deal with the watch?  i must've missed that - was he supposed to deliver it meaning kill the recipient?

"the monster" - it's smoke?  evil, black, smoke?  i seriously hope that's not all it is, because that will be really disappointing.  i think thetruth.com is behind this one, trying to get us all to see how evil smoking is.

i've got plenty more to say but lunch is over...i'll be back later!

Oh, I thought it was so good. I recorded it and I'm going to watch it again today to see if I missed anything.

I think that those 'pirate people' are 'the others' that the French woman was talking about and the reason that they weren't at the black smoke was b/c they were out hunting down Walt in their boat.  I guess they've been after Walt the whole time.  And whoever said it looked like a woman throwing the grenade, I thought that, too.

There is no way that they are going to kill off Sawyer.  He's too much of a pivitol character for that.  I read an article where the co-producer was quoted as saying, "You can't have Jack without Sawyer or vice versa. It wouldn't work." Or something like that.  So, there's no way they are getting rid of him.  They'll all just end up back on the island.

I wasn't surprised that the hatch was a tunnel.  I heard a spoiler to that effect.

I'm not sure what's up with Locke.  I can't decide if he's good or evil or both.

How about Hurley's flashback??? Hilarious.  Here he thought he finally had a stroke of good luck by making his flight (after all those setbacks) and then it crashed on some deserted island.  Hurley is probably one of my favorite characters. Like when he was talking to Artz and he was like, "Dude, it's all in your head."  Hahaha.   So freaking funny.

I love Shannon and Sayid!!! Love them! They are so unexpectedly perfect for each other.

I can't wait until next season.  They should rerun this season over the summer so that we can see it again and pick up on stuff that we missed. Now I wish I hadn't recorded over the episodes that I had recorded.  I only have the last two to get me through until fall. Boohiss.

ETA:  As far as Artz, I guess they did introduce him to kill him off.  I guess they wanted to kill someone during the dynamite incident, but they didn't want to kill off a main character, so they introduced the quirky Artz.

Oh and how about Claire's flashback to scratching the French woman. I guess she and Ethan were trying to get Claire's baby as a trade for 'the others.'

I think the more I think about the things, the more they revealed in the show without us even realizing it.

i didn't like arzt, especially when he was being mean to hurley -- if someone's mean to hurley then that's it!  it was a surprise to me when he exploded, especially because of the arzt chunks you could see falling down, but it makes sense that they wouldn't want to kill another major cast member.  i thought it was funny how arzt said to hurley something like "you guys all think you're so much more important than the rest of us!"

the abduction at sea was quite disturbing!  maybe next season will start with them washing back up on shore and planning a rescue mission for walt.  or vincent will sniff him out and lead shannon on a chase to find him.  or maybe that's too hokey...

i love sayid!  if i were ship-wrecked there i'd feel much safer with him around.

i didn't notice this myself, but on ew.com the show recap said that you see all of the infamous numbers in hurley's flashback: his room number, what's on his dashboard as he's driving, numbers on the girls' uniforms as he runs through the airport.

what a great show.

i thought it was really good, also.

i was surprised that "the others" looked like pirates.  i definitely thought that the people on the boat were the ones danielle meant when she talks about "the others."  and i also figured that they must have some kind of child sacrifice culture, because of how they took danielle's child, then she tried to give them claire's baby, and then they took walt. poor walt! he's my favorite character on the show.  i am sure they will get him back, though--i hope vincent saves the day!  i thought that was a woman who bombed the raft, too--in fact, it didn't occur to me that it wasn't.  i'll have to re-watch it.

i also thought that maybe the hatch connects to a series of underground tunnels and maybe "the others" live underground? it would explain how they were able to light the "black smoke" on the beach withought making any footprints.  and the black smoke beacon also makes sense if they are in the habit of going out in a boat and need a signal to guide themselves back home.

now that we know that there are seafaring pirates around the island, that might connect up with the ancient ship in the middle of the jungle?

i'm super tired of kate and kind of wish she would have blown up instead of arnzt.

i am confused about locke also.  i don't think he is evil, but maybe just a misguided "true-believer"--i think his curiosity and the fairy tales that he tells himself about the "spirit of the island" are going to put everyone in danger.  he genuinely looked terrified when whatever it was was about to kill him in the jungle.  i liked how jack said "if we survive tonight, we are going to have a locke problem"--i think that's probably right.

the hatch is definitely evil--the fact that walt adamantly told locke "don't open that thing!" and then hurley tried to stop him because of the numbers--those two characters are the ones with the greatest likelihood of foretelling the future and they 100% agreed on this one thing.  it looked like jack and kate were listening to hurley and that they considered what he was saying, but locke was bound and determined to open it.   anyway, nothing but badness is going to come of having it open--it's a pandora's box.  also, i think there's no coincidence to locke/lock on hatch--there's some kind of significance to the name, but i don't know what it is yet.

that is all for now.  oh and i also love sayyid/shannon--that was a sweet scene where they hugged at the end.

Good point Bumblebee--i hadn't thought of this.

I also think it was a woman who threw the bomb. I am rewatching with hubby on tivo--he was out of town.

Good episode! :)

The woman who threw the bomb onto the raft could be Rousseau's daughter Alex?

If the Others live underground and the hatch is one of the doors to their living area, how did they get the technology to build it?  I'm still trying to figure out how they got the boat, since I was operating under the assumption that the Others were descendants of the Black Rock crew.  Did anyone else see the white blob moving towards the raft when they were seeing the blip on the radar? The boat just seemed to materialize, but they showed a strange white patch moving around under the water a few times.

It seemed like Hurley's bad luck (caused by the numbers) was trying to *stop* him from getting on that flight.  So, if Hurely overcame his bad luck to get on the plane, than it may be a good thing that he's on the island.  Maybe somehow (for the ones that don't bite it) it's a good thing for all the people who survived?

I don't think Locke is evil.  I do think that he knows way more about the island than Jack does, and I don't think he's planning on telling anyone his secrets any time soon.  So I can imagine that Jack and Locke will be butting heads a lot.  Right now, I think Locke is a better leader than Jack.

I heard someone was going to die in this episode, and I figured Arzt was going to get it, and if not him than Rousseau. Arzt was quirky, but I was starting to think he might have been amusing as a secondary character.  I agree with whoever said Kate should have been the one to blow up.  She is getting very annoying.

I think the monster was more than black smoke,   it sounded too mechanical to just be smoke.  I'm guessing that they didn't kill it when they threw the dynamite down the hole.  Maybe they hurt it, but I think it will be back.

Argh! I don't want to wait for the new episodes to come out, I hate summer hiatus.

I would just like to know how 'the others' got the gas for that boat of theirs ...?

I'm getting a little tired of Kate.  They just aren't giving her any interesting side plots, and she comes off looking mysterious but I have trouble identifying with her or sympathizing.  I liked her character alot better around the time that her and Sawyer kissed, actually, since it made her seem more human.  They need to start something up with her and Jack before it's too late!  I really want to like her, but they're not making it very easy - they did so much more back story in the finale, but none of it was about Kate at all!

I really like the Shannon/Sayid thing too!  They are so perfect for each other, and it adds a nice dimension to each of them.

The 'she stole my baby' thing was a little lame IMO.  They resolved it too quickly, so you almost didn't really believe the baby was ever in danger of not being returned. I think even drawing out the scene where Sayid and Charlie found Danielle on the beach with the baby would have been enough.  Maybe it will have some more significance later on?

oh how I love sayid. I've loved naveen andrews ever since The English Patient.

I was a little disappointed too... I had myself all psyched up that they were going to discover more survivors on the island... between Rose's husband who she's sure isn't dead and Michelle Rodriguez, I was sure more people would turn up! But no.

the guys in the boat didn't freak me out too much, either; for some reason I was completely terrified by that ethan guy, he was so menacing! and the pirate guys really weren't. Whoever made the point about "the boy" referring to Walt instead of Aaron--I didn't think of that, and it's totally true! Although it's weird that their initial focus would be on Claire's baby and they weren't interested in Walt at all and now it's suddenly shifted.

At least we don't have to wait till January like with 24 and, I assume, Alias...
