How to find a date for my guy friend in LA?
Permalink Closed

My boyfriend I have a very good friend from college, Z.  He move to LA ~ 1 year ago with his girlfriend of >4 years.  After moving ot LA, his girlfriend left him for another guy and Z has been devastated

Z is a great guy.  He is cute, sweet, smart, and loves to cook!  I think Z is pretty lonely and would love to start dating someone again.  BUT, I feel weird trying to "fix him up" with girls that I know.  I think this is mainly b/c I don't really know any single girls that would be right for him.  My b/f and I have tried going out with Z to "hit on chicks", but that really isn't Z's thing....so it was just awkward.

So....girls please give me ideas on how a great guy can get the attention of a great girl....in LA (or any other large city).....I have been with my b/f for almost 5 years, so dating is so foreign to me....

hey tara!  so i'm a (newly) single girl and i'm in LA... j/k (kinda)!  anyways, i was just thinking about this recently (for obvious reasons) and how i really don't want to meet guys at clubs and how it's so much better when u meet a guy that's a friend of a friend or something like that.  then at least u know a little bit about him & also u know ur friend wouldn't let u date someone skeevy.  anyways, other than friend of a friend type meetings (which aren't likely to happen for me cuz most of my friends either would snatch the guy up themselves or they don't know any young hot single guys), i do like it when guys strike up random conversations while in line for something (like grocery store, ice cream, etc.) or things like that.  also, i was thinking of hitting the beach this summer (like manhattan/hermosa - love how i can say that to u & u know what i mean!) cuz there's always hotties there playing volleyball or something & if i can drag one of my girlfriends w/ me then maybe we have a chance of meeting some nice down to earth guys.  anyways, tell ur friend he doesn't have to "hit on" girls to meet someone, sometimes just a casual conversation can lead to so much more!

Omg! When I saw this post I was thinking about you, Crystal! Tara, you should do some matchmaking with our beautiful friend Cyrstal here. At least you know y'all two would get along for doubles and what not. She's looking to find someone good (you think he's a good one), he's looking to find someone good (we know Crystal's a good one), so voila! There you have it. A perfect match.

I agree with what Crystal said - random conversations... . I feel like if a couple didn't meet at school, they met at some random place, like the icecream place where one of them worked or a grocery store. But I know I'd be too shy to start talking to a cute guy in that context, and it sounds like maybe it wouldn't be his thing either.

I have actually recommended MYSPACE to him, but I think he is too cynical for internet-aided relationships.  Crystal....if you are interested in a set-up, let me know....I actually think you 2 may be perfect for each other - no pressure at all......and honestly, this was not the intent of my original post!  How funny!!!

hmm, well i wouldn't be totally opposed to the idea... geez what a small weird world we live in!  anyways, how bout some more details, tara?  and feel free to ask me anything u and/or ur friend want to know.  i know w/ a set up situation u wanna know as much about the other person as possible before hand cuz otherwise if u go out & they are not what u expected it can be quite akward (sp? that just looks wrong...).  well, if u want to continue this convo on PM (or actually i think u may have my email still from way back), then go ahead.
