I order contacts Saturday about 6:00 p.m and I recieved them today in the mail. I love this place. They ship them fast, free, are cheap and everyone has been really nice when I have a problem- which is not very often.

It usually takes 2 weeks to get contacts from my doctor, but I don't wait long from 1800 contacts.

I ordered contacts on Monday afternoon, talked to a super-nice guy on the phone, and although he warned me it might take 5 -10 business days to show up in the mail, I got the box yesterday (Thursday).

I 1-800 contacts!

Is it cheaper to get contacts through 1800 contacts than to get them through my doctor?

I think if you use a common brand like Acuvue, there are discounts right and left. My contacts are less common (Vertex Toric...f***ing astigmatism), but they do offer bulk discounts.

But they're still a million times faster than my doctor...it takes them at least a week for them to special order my prescription and get it to the store and then I still have to drag my butt down to Lenscrafters to pick them up.

How does that work exactly? Do you get a prescription from your eye doctor and send it to 1800 contacts? My doctor just automatically orders the contacts after my exam, but should I be asking for a prescription from him?
