Still planning on getting this bag.  Just wanting to make sure I can make the color work with my fall/winter closet. 
This is the coat that I bought last year.  I plan on getting a lot of wear out of it!

Also, thought about just adding a lariat to the jacket to tie the colors together??

honestly I'm not too sure about the lariat. If you want it to go on the front of the coat, there would be a lot going on there - ruffles, two rows of buttons, and all the circles on the lariat

Agree with Kelly - that strikes me as trying too hard. I like the color combo as it is without needing to hammer it in! The scarf is nice and I think taupe/khaki shades would be good with it too.

Aw I bought the same coat last year too!!

I HEART the plum bag and like the scarf as individual pieces, but it might be too much putting them all together with the lariat.

I agree - I would get an understated solid or plaid scarf, nothing too dramatic bc you've got alot going on there.  I do like that first scarf you picked up though.
