I'd pair it with a a silk cami and pencil skirt...or wear it over a sundress for fall.

Have you tried something really simple, like a pair of dark skinny jeans and a white tank? I think maybe it would be a nice balance with the skinnies.

To me it's a casual item. I have s/s cardis in black and gray, and I wear them over tanks and camis all the time when the weather is warm.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have s/s sweaters to that I wear all the time. I don't know if I am getting stuck with this one because of the color or because of the length of it.

Ah, yes...the color could be conspiring against you. As most people know I loathe navy (and blue in general), partly because I find it so hard to work with.

About the length, the tops I wear underneath are always appreciably longer than the sweaters.

I personally love navy ( it also compliments me), so I'd wear it with a tank top or cami, not silk, cotton, then the neckline will look cute underneath, since tank tops & camis' necklines are lower in scoop then this cardigan's. ( white/grey/grey heather/pale blue/cream or bold color: orange, pink, green ( from lime to warm), purple).

I'd pair it with either jeans or denim pencil skirt or any other pencil skirt
(grey, dk. brown, cream).

Lately I wear a lot of my denim pencil skirt, I find it incredibly versitile.
