Enlighten me...

I'm in the market for new bras.  Not sexy ones, but basic, everyday, wear under a tee shirt bras.

While perusing the Vickie Secret website, I've discovered many of the styles I like come unlined.  Why do people want an unlined bra? I understand not wanting padding, but don't most people want at least SOME light lining so they don't nip through?

Example, this very basic, everyday bra is unlined. I don't get it... Maybe more people prefer having no lining or there is a good reason for it. Please enlighten me...

I have a lot of unlined bras. Admittedly, sometimes I have to wear those nipple petals with them.

For me, it's a support thing. Most of my unlined bras are seamed, which in general are more supportive than an unseamed bra. Like this:

But I do have a couple unseamed, unlined, t-shirt bras. They are Fantasie's t-shirt bras from the "Smoothing" collection. I wouldn't design it that way if I could - I do have a "headlights" problem - but this particular bra is so supportive and comfortable compared to my lined t-shirt bras that I deal with the lack of lining. When I'm wearing it the material feels stiffer and more secure, and I suspect this same material can't be used in a lined bra.

I can't wear them either. I have to have some type of lining, and I always buy nude color. Not my husband's favorite. I wish I could wear bare, lacy things under my clothing.

On the opposite side of the spectrum I never have the "see thru" problem, I am not that sensitive to temp changes and such. I have unlined bras but I usually prefer a little more support.

Me too.  I always buy the same bra in the same color because it works for me.  I'd love to wear pretty bras too, but I need the support.

I have such a hard time finding unlined/unpadded bras. I hate them, find them uncomfortable, and I don't like how they make my boobs look!

I like unlined ones a lot, but bra makers assume that ladies with 32Bs want five inches of padding in each cup.

As for highbeams/smuggling raisins, it happens, but it doesn't bother me too much.

In my world, I need them to be lined, padded, wired, etc. I want my boobs to look as artificially perfect as possible. I want no hint of nipple, no bounce, no jiggle, absolutely nothing that remotely resembles a human woman's natural breast.

And if it's a special occasion, I want a pushup bra that hikes them up to the level of my armpits and gives me ridiculous cleavage.

No, really. Do I have boob envy?

I have tried on lined/lightly padded bras in different styles and brands and I have yet to find one that supports me. I wear bras like Kelly now because they do wonders in supporting me. I'm no longer sagging or flopping every which way which I did with the unseamed & padded bras. I do have some sensitivity to temperature change and the likes but I just deal with it since it isn't all the time thanks to layering.

LMAO!

I buy more structured, wired, padded and lined bras simply because they are easy to find well fitting ones, they look so good under fitted clothes and they lift my post-breast feeding sag.

But, I actually don't like that they make me look artificial. I am not a barbie doll after all, I'm a real girl with real boobs. So if I found a really well fitting bra that was unlined, I would buy it because I don't think there is anything wrong with nipple showing through. I am now curious about the unlined brands some of you have found to be flattering and supportive, whenever I have tried them on I've felt that they flattened me.
