did you ever get the mary-jane sneakers you ordered? how are they?
i need something comfortable yet not too sneaker-y for my trip to NY in a week because i am planning to do a lot of walking. do you think these would be good for that?
I did get them and I've been meaning to post a review.
I got both the plain black and these olive/tan perforated ones:
Ritz and dot said that they ran big so I ordered a 6 (37) since I am normally a 6.5 and these fit, though they are a teeeny bit snug in the toe. I also haven't worn them without socks and I was hoping to use a gel insole so I'll have to see if they are excessively tight if I do that.
I've worn the black pair a few times and I didn't do tons of walking, but they were definitely really comfortable and didn't hurt or irritate my feet at all despite the fact that I wore them without socks and my heels were already a bit torn up from wearing a painful pair of sandals.
Of course the real test will be when I take them to Europe with me!
oh, i didn't see the perforated ones on the site. those are cute also. maybe i will take a trip over to bloomies and see if they have them in the store so i can try them on.
i got the black and i love them. the only sad thing is i think they are starting to get a little stinky already! i know ritz you said something about using foot powder? or did i make that up?
ha! yes dot, i did use some foot powder- i used dr. scholls odor destroyer shoe shot. BUT, the thing to do is to put the powder in (one squirt then just move the shoe around to distribute it) and let it sit for like a night, and then take a paper towel or something and get as much of the excess powder out otherwise your feet will get all white and yucky
there has to be a better option, but this is the one i have and it does get rid of the odor!
Hmm I haven't had any problem with them getting raunchy yet, but it also hasn't been very hot. I think the perforated ones are probably better for the summer since they breathe. I know there are also certain insoles that are supposed to help prevent shoes from getting stinky - Odor Eaters makes some.
BTW Ritz thank you so much for the recommendation!

there are these things called sneaker balls that are magnificent! they are like little round plastic air freshener things that you sit in your shoes overnight and they will get rid of any nasty foot smell.

Oh I'm so glad you posted those. I remember my dad used to use them sometimes when I was little but was having trouble finding them on the web and I didn't want to send people on a wild goose chase!!
so i went on my lunch break to bloomies to check them out. the store didn't have black, so i tried on the pink just to see how the size fit.
i'm not petite enough, though, i guess. instead of looking cute and gamine, i looked like i was wearing clown shoes. i guess the light pink was part of the problem and they would have been better in the black, but still, they weren't so good on me.
so i got these instead
what do you think? i don't know why that pic makes them look like they are shiny patent leather--the ones i got are just a regular matte black.
they are really comfy, but they aren't as feminine and cute as the lacoste ones. will they brand me as a dorky tourist if i wear them walking around in NYC?
PS--feel free to be very honest. my feelings won't be hurt at all.
bumblebee, I think those are cute. People definitely wear sneakers in NYC and I think that it's usually women wearing Keds or giant white sneakers paired with tapered jeans and windbreakers who get branded dorky tourists!
The other shoes that I considered getting but didn't try on were: Puma Contre and Palladium Freerubber
those are both really cute, too. i guess there is a lot in this style right now. i'm going to try the nikes on with some things i planned on packing and see how they work. they are really very comfortable, so i am inclined towards keeping them for that reason alone.
