embarrasing gyno exam

Just had to tell somebody:

So, I just had my annual gyno/Pap exam yesterday.  My doctor, whom I love, came in and said she had a male student with her and asked if it was ok for him to perform the exam, while she stayed in the room of course.  He looked familiar but I understand that students need to learn so I said that was fine.  By the time I was ready to go, I realized why he looked so familiar--I think he went to high school with me and graduated a year ahead of me.  I couldn't see his last name on his name badge, but I am pretty sure.  I wasn't really embarrased that he would tell people b/c of patient confidentiality but I was like, "OMG, eww."

Good thing you didn't realize who he was until the exam was over. I think it would have been really hard to relax thinking "I went to highschool with you. You know my friends and now you are seeing me pantsless."

OMG!  That is so embarassing, but also ironic and therefore quite funny!  But I would have died if it had been me, so you're a stronger person than I!

I don't even like running into people from highschool in the grocery store, much less in my gyno's office with their face all up in my business!

I would file that story away in the 'entertaining things to tell at girls night out' file!

i agree LMonet, that is definitely a classic story.  on a side note, when i was in nursing school i did my med surg rotation and psych rotation at the hospital about two miles from my college.  i was always freaked out that i would see like a friend or someone i knew (and be more embarassed for them).  so he was probably super embarassed too (i bet he didn't talk much or look at you too much if he realized he knew you).

as luck would have it, when i was in the hospital for a kidney infection and ruptured ovarian cyst, i had nursing students a year younger (and of course they had to ask me if i was sexually active, etc... in front of my old nursing teacher!!!)

while i'm definitely all about helping educate students, sometimes you just want to say no.  stitches on your hand..yes, let the whole class watch, gyno exam....ummmm yeah.

how awkward!  i'm impressed that you kept your cool.  it sounds like you handled it well.  that is the most vulnerable position to be in (literally).

in high school one of my first gyno exams was with a doctor whose son was in my class at school.  they looked a lot alike, which felt very strange during the exam.

i would have died- but b/c i refuse to have a man doctor for a gyno- but the fact that he went to HS with you would have made it even more worse!
