My dad said he was thinking of getting me a purse for my big 2-0...he started rattling off ideas like Gucci and Fendi, but I've never been really all that into either brand. I know that anything he buys will veer towards the classic territory, so I can't get a Balenciaga or a Chloe Silverado or anything like that. So there's always the two bags I lust after ridiculously...a Chanel quited (I don't need black or brown, but what other colors could I get?), and the LV Epi Alma in red (but do I really want another LV?)...but then I saw THIS


Boston Boogie Bag


The only problem I ever had with the Boogie was that it didn't have a zip closure...but this Boston Boogie does...has anyone seen it IRL in another color? I don't need a dark brown or black bag, but a colored one would be awesome.


P.S.: I'm a spolied brat, I know.

ohhh get the alma in red!!!  i don't like LV either (i only have the large speedy for an overnight bag)...but i love the red alma.  the cream quilted chanel isn't bad either.  or MJ, but i'm just really digging the MJ multipocket.  i wish it was my birthday!!!  let us know what you decide.

oh my gosh i can't believe i forgot to tell you guys, lilykind your post reminded me--i got the chanel quilted classic in red lambskin---it is DIVINE!  but i think i got the last red one at neimans but i'm sure the chanel store might have it?


oh i also love the red epi btw but have never seen the boogie in person.  hth and happy hunting!

I vote for the Celine Boston Boogie - but you know how I feel about the Celine boogies! Btw, the regular Boogie bags do zip up, it's just a fabric compartment inside the bag...:)

I LOVE the red alma.  And thats a lot coming from soneone that's not a huge LV fan.  LOVE.  I"ve liked it for some time, and you've mentioned it too.  As far as Chanel colors, maybe a deep blue or a bright color like lime green.  Marissa/Mischa had a lime green one and it looked really funky but awesome with whatever she was wearing.  I like the Celine bag, but not the contrast stitching.  If you can find an awesome Chanel or LV bag, I think you should get that.

I really like the Celine. It looks so fresh but still classic. I guess the Chanel and the LV just aren't my type...

Celine: totally hot. Especially if it come in other colors.


Chanel: love it in the peachy color that they do, I have it in black though and find it hard to dress down. Its also kind of small (I like to carry around a ton of stuff)


LV: like it, but don't love it.


I say go for the boogie!

I don't know what colors in comes in though. deludelu says it comes in orange- I love orange accessories. Red would be nice too if if comes in red.

i love the boogie, lilykind.  even in the black, you would get so much use out of it.


another idea: since your dad specifically mentioned gucci, do you like the jackie o. bag? i think it's really great and classic, and the size is perfect.  you could be very styling in that for years to come.

I like the Alma. The boogie just doesn't do anything for me, and I'm not partial to chanel.

I did take a look at the Jackie O's in the Gucci monogram and they didn't really "sing" to me. I am planning to take a stroll into the Celine, Gucci, Chanel, and LV stores for research purposes this weekend.


Right now I think I want to hold off on the Chanel...I'm a Chanel girl at heart, but unless there is a showstopping color that I must absolutely own (which I have yet to see...), I think I'd want to wait five years (or until my black Moschino purse is shot) and get it as a 25th birthday present to myself or something, because I always envisioned owning that back in black. The Boogie and the Alma are both making my heart spin in mad circles....


I'll let you girls know how it goes.
