fall and color choices

I was looking at this combination of colors that JCrew has put together with this coat that is supposed to be available in September.  I'm not buying it because it is $800. I love the pink/yellow/gray color combo, but isn't that very spring-y instead of fall-y?  Fashionwise, does it really matter if you wear pink and yellow in the fall?  I know the ultimate answer is "do what you want", but I really want to know if it is considered appropriate for fall?

I don't know about whether or not it's appropriate for fall (and I agree, do what you want!) but it does look springy to me, esp. because the yellow and pink look almost pastel/are light colored. They're not very rich, which is what I think of when I think of fall: rich, bold, deeper colors.

I agree with you that it looks springy, but still cute

I actively dislike pastels so I look forward to the deeper colors in fall. Yellows I think can be appropriate for fall if they're in the mustard/gold direction.

I like pastels all year long, but in the fall, I would wear them in moderation. Like maybe a pink blouse with dark gray pants, dark shoes & accessories, for example. Did I read your post right? $800 for THAT coat? That's crazy!

ITA.  I always love seeing the beautiful jewel tones to pair with heavier fabrics like wool and tweed come fall.

Me too.  I noticed that J Crew had a lot of pastel colors in their Fall line this year.  It seemed out of place to me.

I think it is a breath of fresh air for the winter. I've sold several 50's & 60's era coats that were vivid pastels, but for some reason colored coats kinda fell by the wayside.

I think some designers are showing pastels for fall/winter - strange but true
