 I have this interview suit:



Its a dark grey with aqua pin stripes.  It came with the shell pictured.

I feel as though the shell is very dated and BLAH and also want something that can stand on its own if I need to take my jacket off.  I tried it with a silk navy blouse from J Crew and the navy simply clashed with the pinstripes.  Any ideas?  The color is what I'm basically stuck on.  Is aqua too matchy matchy?  Should I just go with creme or white?

I'd do black under it. And then black shoes. Or a lighter version of the aqua, for a top that is, not shoes :)

I would go with a cream, I think. Maybe get another color in accessories.

I think a crisp white shirt would look professional. You could individualize it with a pop of color in your necklace (I'd still keep it simple.)

Aqua may too matchy matchy if someone from the forum was hiring you, but for the average interview situation, it probably would read as pulled together.

What about a shade of purple? White and black are also safe (boring, but safe).
