It made me so happy to hear about all the good things that were going on with everyone when we did the "Good Things" post last week that I want to start again this week if everyone doesn't mind! (Plus it just now reminded me of Martha Stewart's "Good Things" and it made me laugh at how they used to do those skits on SNL!)
1. I belatedly jumped on the Twilight bandwagon and I am hooked! I read Twilight last week and am finishing New Moon today, getting the next two from a friend this weekend. Monday I had to go to the chiropractor with a massive neck/headache so I took the day off work and it just so happened to be the most perfect day outside. I sat out in the sun and read New Moon with my dog laying beside me pretty much all day. I even ate breakfast and lunch out there. It was amazing.
2. Twilight the movie will be in my mailbox when I get home today. I have a date with myself to watch it Friday night and I am as excited as a 13 year old girl. I don't care how sad that is, it brings me back to my silly lovesick teenage days and I yearn for that feeling back!
3. We have our 3rd childbirth class tonight and I am so excited! I love learning about what the birth will be like and that it is all bringing me closer to meeting my little girl!
So what "good things" are going on with you ladies this week?
Our adoption for our German Shepherd puppy went through! We get to meet him on Friday and bring him home on Monday! We have family visiting this weekend to help my husband finish his fence project, and our kids, and new puppy will have a safe fenced yard to play in. Happy, happy, happy!

This might be a dorky happy thing, but I always feel so uninformed about money. All the education I got about it growing up was basically "don't spend it in stupid ways, and save as much as you can." If you asked me to explain a freakin' 401k I probably couldn't do it very well. So last night my Amazon order came in the mail, including a book targeted basically to clueless young people. I read a chapter last night and I feel much more confident already...I think when I'm done reading it, I'll really be on the right track...and I'm excited!

I might have sold my mother's house to someone I grew up with -- I'd be very happy if it ended up in her hands.
I turned down a six figure job this week. Yes, it's a good thing, because I have gotten to a point where I'm not willing to be a slave for money and quality of life is most important. Wasn't easy to do, but I know I made the best decision.

I'm reading the Twilight series too. I started this week. Since I'm not attending classes this summer I'm going through them pretty quickly. I just started the last book, Breaking Dawn.
It's supposed to be cool (but maybe wet) on Saturday, so I'm going to attempt a day at the park with the dog. He can tire himself out staring at people and drooling and I'll get to finally start the Murakami book I've had sitting on my bedside table for a while now.
Also, another good thing? I gave blood yesterday. I was super nervous but it went fine. The cookies I got afterward were even pretty tasty.

I'm going to The Green City Market Bar-b-que tonight in Lincoln Park. I'm so looking forward to it. Basically 30 or so of the best known chefs here in Chicago set up grills in the park and with the purchase of an event ticket you get to sample all of their dishes. It's an amazing chance for me to try the cooking of some chefs who's restaurants I probably can't afford to actually eat in anytime soon. I'm going with my SIL who is a chef/cooking teacher and her boss who runs the culinary events for the city. It should be so much fun!
Plus I ordered the first seven books by Charlene Harris (the Sookie Stackhouse series) and can't wait to read them. I love the True Blood show and hope the books are just as good. It's my reward to myself for getting through my FSIL's out of control wedding shower this weekend!

I read all 9 Sookie Stackhouse books in 2 weeks. I like them and love the show as well. I think you'll like the books as well. Season 1 of True Blood is almost identical to the book.
