Ok, I wrote a long soap box but somehow lost it all, so I'll be short.

I was thinking of this quote when I saw these photos - the fact that she said this & they printed it in Teen Vogue really concerns me from a "mothering" standpoint. The fact is, these girls are role models & this is SUCH a bad message. Don't teen girls have enough issues without looking at these girls & thinking that is how they, too, are supposed to look? And the fact that Lindsey thinks she is "overweight" compared to other people just makes me sad. I would just think that all the info that is out now on how UNHEALTHY this is for you, that it would be better, but it seems to be getting worse & worse. It's just that the older I get the more accepting I am of my body flaws, and I would never throw up, or starve myself, or do coke, or whatever the heck they are doing to be so skinny!!! It just sends such bad messages. UGH. I'll get off my soap box now.

this is the least of the problems in the picture you posted, but nicole has way over-collagened her lips.  they look so out of proportion to her ultra-tiny body.

and whoever said that she is starting to look like an olsen--that's what i thought when i first saw this pic, too.

i'm feeling really sad for these girls anymore and i hope that something happens to change it, like a large-scale attitude shift in hollywood.  remember when we had healthy, athletic, beautiful models and actresses like cindy crawford and elle macpherson and (the earlier) demi moore for inspiration? whatever happened to that--i thought they were much more gorgeous than these emaciated little girls.

You know what's really scary?

I saw a commercial on E entertainment about Karen Carpenter singing and she really didn't look that thin compared to what girls look like today.

Yikes!

laken1 is sooooooo right. As a side note, anyone notice the increasing amount of news stories about teenage girls wanting (or even scarier, getting) lipo/collagen/boob jobs/other cosmetic surgery?

What about that stupid "I want a famous face" show. Most of those girls and guys are in their teens and early twenties. This is really getting sad.
