NEEDED: Fashion suggestions for a good cause

Hey everyone,


I know this isn't 'high fashion' but I bought this at the puppy show over the weekend. Its for a great cause and I want to wear it to help raise rescue awareness.


Here's the thing- I hate regular generic t-shirts, though, and how they fit. Any suggestions on how to jazz it up? I was thinking about cutting it into a v-neck or boat-neck. Any ideas?

I am picturing a boatneck, capped sleeves, and tapered body. Is that too elaborate??

PS I too despise the generic t-shirt on women. Blehh.

I've reconstructed a few t shirts and it is really fun.  If you do a google shirt on "t shirt reconstruction" or "t shirt reconstruction tutorial" you should be able to find a bunch of sites w/ various ways you can reconstruct the shirt.


If you really love the shirt, you might want to do a practice run first.  You can buy a shirt at a goodwill or value village for 50 cents and try out your techniques before taking the scissors to a shirt you really like.

Thanks for all of the great ideas! I cringe at the thought of just pulling it over my head and running out the door. But I HAVE to let everyone know about the Detroit Bulldog Rescue club so I want to wear it.

I'm going to check out the reconstruction sites for some great ideas. I love the tip about testing it on another t-shirt. Great experimentation tip!!!

One more suggestion...If you don't find a reconstructed style you like, post a message on the www.craftster.org message board.  The girls over there are awesome and creative, some of them do amazing things w/ their clothes.  I bet you would get a ton of response.

i've found that the easiest way to reconstruct tees is to slice off the top band, bottom band, and the band around the sleeves. also cut down the front (not to make a v) but in a straight line, the tee will usually fold back away from where you sliced. it's pretty easy and makes the tee much more stylish.

That's a great idea and looks less "planned" than actually cutting out the v. I like that idea, it just folds over and creates its own v that way.
