My contact at the rescue organization emailed me today...it seems that vets around the country are seeing increases in cases of Parvo in vaccinated dogs. For some reason there's a strain going around that's somehow stronger than the vaccination.
One of her adopted dogs just died from it -- he was an 8 month old Basset Hound, current on all his shots, kept out of parks & public areas, etc. He got it from his own backyard.
Dogs get Parvo from stepping in or consuming feces that infected flies have been on. She recommends that if you have a yard, making sure your doggies' "piles" are picked up right away, or make sure you watch to make sure they (or you) don't step in it. Also, if you can, give them water inside, as flies feed on the water as well.
HTH someone.
