does the idea of sharing a bedroom freak you out?

While I am probably too young to live with a bf for other reasons, and am not going to for a long time, I could probably live with my bf just fine.  I don't have a problem sharing space.  But I think of my bedroom as my girly hideout.  I want a four post bed, a vanity, shoes everywhere, etc.  I don't want a boy-style bedroom!  I was just thinking about this with all of the posts in the home section about beds.  I was going to send a link to him about the Wal-mart platform bed, while I was considering a four post iron bed.  It's not that I don't like his taste, its just that I'm so used to decorating my bedroom completely for me.  Any advice/experiences?

As always in relationships, you just have to compromise.  While I have lived with my BF before, it was in a huge house with other people, which sorta made it into less of a big deal.  Now we are moving in together, just us.  I have a black [fake] wrought iron open-top canopy which I love love love, but I am not going to use it anymore, because he hates it.  He thinks my room is too girly but has one of those i-don't-care attitudes so doesn't say much.  But I know he won't feel comfortable actually living in it, so I am going to change the color scheme and make it more modern than girly.  It won't be my girly refuge for much longer, but now it will be a comfy place for us to share together.

It's difficult, but you do have to compromise. My SO and I are slowly giving our bedroom a "classic" look (which means no flowered bedspreads ). So, I just moved my flowery quilt and antique bed into the guest bedroom...and I decorate that room however I like.

I will always have my own bedroom. He can't sleep w/ me at night... maybe, but it will still be my room. He can has his own boring boy room, but I want to keep my room clean, sweat sock and boy funk free.

I hate the thought of sharing a room with a boy. I like having my own bed and my own room and doing whatever I want with it.

I lived with a bf when I was at university and insisted on keeping my own bedroom. He thought it was weird and it casued tension but you know? I just don't want to share that space ALL the time. I want somewhere that's mine. And he had to deal.

i think i'm weirder about sharing other living spaces.  my bedroom seems obvious, but sharing a living room and bathroom with another human (even if he is my husband) kind of makes me claustrophobic.  i didn't used to be that way until i moved into a place all by myself and felt the luxury of quiet uninterrupted "me" space all the time--now i don't know if i could give it up.  i think the answer will probably be to have my own office somewhere away from my house that i can decorate however i like and go to be by myself if i want.

My husband and I have lived together for almost 3 years, but I've always had my own "room." Our new house is a 4 bedroom, so we now have an office, and each of us has a special room that's our own.

That is what my parents have. They have seprate bedrooms, but my dad usually sleeps with my mom (when he is actually home). She decorated her room the way she wanted it and his is decorated the way he wanted to. Which was actually how my mom wanted it decorated, but I don't think my dad cared.

Maybe I'll do that one day if I have a nice house.  We can each have our own room and then take turns "sleeping over" in each others rooms.  I like having my boyfriend over, I just want it to be decorated girly because that's what a bedroom means to me.

when i moved in with the BF, i took over the guest bedroom... it has all my bedroom furniture and a big closet just for me... so i spend a lot of time in here... his bedroom is where i sleep- don't get me wrong- his furniture is GORGEOUS- dark cherry wood sleigh bed with matching dresser and chest of drawers... but i love my girly iron bed with fluffy comforter, etc. that is all mine...
