apparently the judge felt she didn't realize her actions were wrong.

That's very weird - I don't understand the procedure here - a judge can just decide s/he doesn't think you're fully aware of your plea and reject it?

According to the article: "Under military law, the judge could formally accept her guilty plea only if he was convinced that she knew at the time that what she was doing was illegal."


Military law is different than regular 'ole U.S. law. Apparently there was some difference in what she said and what Graner (?) said, so I think that's where the judge was confused. Now they'll have to start the plea process, if they can even do it anymore, all over again. I say try her ass and get her to admit she was operating under, if not orders, then permission from her superior officers.

Well that's mighty interesting. There's been a hell of a lot of chatter regarding what the orders were at Abu Ghraib.
