I am so sad.  I planned a trip back in January with a friend of mine to NYC for a long weekend in May.  Thursday night through Monday morning. I cannot change the date on the trip.  It is all paid for since January.  Well, I have just found out that I will be missing my sister's graduation (she got her Masters), my 1st graders Open House at school, my nephew/Godson's  birthday party, and three baseball games (my 13 year old has a double header, and my 6 year old has a teeball game). I feel like the worst mother/sister/aunt! Then one of my friends asked me if I would go to the Stevie Wonder concert with her in Vegas that weekend with her and her hubby (he didn't want her to drive home alone since she will be 8months preggo at that time) and he was paying!!!So now I disappointed her too.

Sorry for my rant but it just sucks that a weekend that should be loads of fun is making me feel super guilty.  Thanks for letting me vent a bit.

oh no! i'm sorry! that is disappointing.

BUT, the fact is, you must be a wonderful mother/sister/aunt/friend just for the fact that you do feel guilty about missing these events. so go on the trip and enjoy it- you deserve a weekend to yourself and for yourself! and maybe just bring your kids fun new york souvenirs to make up for missing their games and either plan a special celebration with your sister or get her a special gift while you are away? to make up for any guilt you may feel!:)

Awww!! Don't feel bad. I'm sure everyone will understand, especially since you're so concerned about missing the events. Just plan something special for your sis and your kids for when you get back.

But above all else, don't let it ruin your trip! It's going to be a fabulous trip and I'm sure you deserve it. Have a drink on the plane and you'll feel tons better.
