How can I dress this down

I found this skirt at an estate sale yesterday - still had the tags on it & I fell in love with it. It is gold / tan with sequins, just gorgeous. But can I really wear this???? The only place we would go where it would be possible is a nice restaurant. What would you pair it with? The pictures show it as VERY shiny, and it is covered in sequins, but not as shiny as it appears in the pictures. The second picture is a good representation of it. (well, maybe between the two close up pixs you can get an idea of it)

PS - it had a tank with it too but the tank was a size 8 & wouldn't go across my boobs so I listed it on ebay - the link is in the ebay section on this board. It is SO beautiful! (and yes, i know, i wouldn't have EVER worn it together!)

A couple of years ago, Lucky had a spread on how to wear a gold sequineed skirt and they paired it with a James Perse off the shoulder teel and some glasdiator sandals. That could look really cute.

mikacat, here is the link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5388018849&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

I love the other suggestions too - keep them coming. I was just thinking I was crazy for even thinking that I could get away with wearing it in a more casual environment, but I think I can rock it if I try!!!

I would wear it with a pink tank, jean jacket, and maybe wedges or some sort or some sort of shoe.  I definately think a jean jacket would help dress it down though and still be very cute.

That skirt is sooo gorgeous!

I love it with either a red or turquoise tank, just to make it more interesting!

Ohhhh, yeah!  Layered beaters and a jean jacket!  And I like the gladiator sandal suggestion, too.  Or maybe some really low key flats?

I bought a skirt just like that except in a light blue color several weeks ago.  I wore it with a white deep scoop neck tee shirt, Target wedges, and my jean jacket.  Seriously, I couldn't walk across the room without someone complimenting the outfit.  So definitely go with the tee/tank and jean jacket idea!

Funny story... The night I wore this outfit, some drunk guy kept calling me "Ariel."  At first I blew him off but eventually I wondered why he called me that despite having told him my name.  Apparently, with my long red hair and sequin skirt, I looked like Ariel from The Little Mermaid!

That's hysterical. I do like the tank / jean jacket idea, but i never would have come up with that on my own. I also really like outfit #2 that Chic posted - YAY!! I can wear it - I was so hoping you ladies could help me come up with something.

And I hate to even tell ya'll this - but i got it for $5 - yes $5. I figured i could throw it away at that price!

I saw a pic of SJP wearing a grey sequined skirt, very similar, with a simple, thin, fitted cashmere 3/4 sleeve top, also grey, and heels. Brilliant outfit!

With this, maybe a cream colored thin sweater?

Love the beater idea, too.

i loove your skirt. if i had it (i wish!!), i'd wear a white tank aka wifebeaters and some flip flops. cardigans would look really goood too. i wouldn't wear heels with it because it would look too "dressed-up"

oh, and since it's a skirt, a good, fitted white polo could look really good with it. oh, i can picture myself wearing it now *sigh*
